Guest guest
Well, I just got my newest labs back. To me they sound good, but maybe someone else can give their opinion. I haven't gone to my primary care doc yet for him to interpret. old new creatinine 2.2 1.9 Creat clearance 39 52 urea nit (bun) 24 28 phosphate ? 4.9 carbon dioxide 24 19 what does this mean? protein total 6.4 5.6 albumin 3.6 3.4 is this important? hematocrit 30.8 32.8 I like procrit creatinine 24 hr 1.2 1.39 I know what some of this means, but am not sure of the overall picture. My neph is one that makes me do a 24 hr urine every month...that is soo much fun. I just love carrying that jug around. YUCK. Does the creatinine change alot. Last test I tried to make myself hydrated, but I think I tried to hard. Can that happen? Thanks for any input,
Guest guest
Hi , Your labs are definitely going in the right direction. You clearance going up to 52 means you are a bit over 50% kidney function. The variation in creatinine may be impacted a little bit by how hydrated you are, so that might explain the improvement there. The CO2 is checking for how acidic your blood is, and the albumin is checked to make sure you are getting enough protein in your diet. All in all, I say your results represent good news! Guest guest
Great news! I'd certainly be happy with those numbers. Creatinine does bounce around within a very limited range. 's values usually range plus or minus 0.2. It's also sensitive to level of hydration - particularly post-transplant. While I know that decrease in creatinine might be attributable to lab error or other factors, isn't it great tho, when it reflects a drop, instead of an increase? Can't help too much with your questions. 's C02 was out of range several times. If I remember his doc correctly, out-of-range CO2 indicates a problem with acid-base balances in your body. The way it was explained to me, it is a very secondary indicator. A more significant indicator would be Cl-. Great news that the procrit is doing it's thing. Come to think of it, I've never heard anyone complain about procrit! Trying to hydrate your numbers before labs can artificially lower your urine protein values - however, it also lowers the specific gravity of the urine so it's pretty obvious that the numbers aren't to be trusted. The protein is still being excreted - it's just very dilute. Cy good i hope..new labs > > Well, I just got my newest labs back. To me they sound good, but maybe > someone else can give their opinion.
