A poll could indeed be created over at yahoogroups, however we have the

beginnings of a more comprehensive survey on our web page

(www.nerosworld.com/icus). This has been an on/off project for some time,

but for the past year it has basically been an 'off' one. The survey is on

the web page in draft form only, so it can't be filled out yet. We've had

some members put some serious effort into it, and it's a real shame not to

have a working version on-line. One of the problems has been that some of

the people helping to build it have had the audacity to actually get better

and leave the list! Bare-faced cheek or what!!! (I hope you know I was

kidding there). I'll give this some thought tonight. We've had a great

response before of people kindly offering to help out with building the

survey up, who have put a lot of effort into it. I'm afraid it's generally

at this end (me - oops) that things have been held up. All I can do is

apologise - a few days are needed really to get things together with it, and

time and time-zone co-ordination of all involved also contribute.

In the meantime, please take a look at the draft survey, and the web page.

There are also murmers of intention to 'clean up' the web page a bit since a

lot of it is outdated, so if you have any suggestions regarding appearance,

please speak up. The more people who jump on board with this, the quicker

the survey should be up and running (in theory, anyway!)

I sat down last night and tried to figure out how you all could do

this...I'm still working on it...I went into database on here and

thats not anything but addresses and phone numbers and I don't

think you should put that kind of info on here...Do that in a

personal email..

Maybe someone has a way of downloading a Statistics sheet that we

could put someplace on here. I know that Jackie, and Barb

are gonna love doing something like that...LOL...I don't have

enough knowledge of the computer to figure that out..Remember I

just learned how to copy and paste after being on this thing for 2

years...But I did try and figure something out on paper last

night...

Thats is an excellant idea...Type of Urt, Meds, other medical

problems, how long you've had it, whether you think you had it as a

I don't think creating a poll has to be difficult at all. I'm a

member of a number of e-groups and many have several polls each. It

could be as simple as just making a list and allow each person to

check all the boxes that apply to him/her.

This could be a simple way to aggregate info and seek out who, for

instance, may have Cholinergic Urt and/or Delayed Pessure and has had

it for a year or longer. This probably would also cut down on the

number of emails daily for people who are looking for people with

certain types of Urt...

I could help in the creation of a simple poll, if need be.

thus: I got tickled at church today...cause ya see... "ye have not if ye ask not"

so, when I looked at the insert that had PRAYER REQUEST on it... I thought...

hmmmm ... so I wrote a prayer request for the chronic u. that was bothering me

and "all my new friends online" ... so... PRAYERS from a large church in Raleigh

NC will be covering you some! [and that ain't bad... that's GREAT!!]

* but for some strange reason I was seeing in my "minds' eye" ..a gathering of "older" devoted prayer warriors picking this peice of paper up ... and seeing the prayer "need" to be ITCHING... well.. I know it's no laffing matter. heck, the young women I work with in my office....say that word like ewwwwwwwwww "you're STILL ITCHING" ... I honestly saw one of them take a few steps back !!! (ha ha)

[odd that my gyn --- a MAN ... here in Chapel Hill... has the same pressure hives stuff going on too.... he was scared its in the AIR or something ] Have not spoken to him since he went to his derm appt. Let cha know what he says.

Meds presently on (and quantities) 60 mg allegra/2x day, one 25 mg hydroxyzine at night and benedryl in the day time if I get really itchy and can't wait till my next dose of Allegra (have tried prednisone, doxepine, zyrtec along with these other medications, but at one point they stopped working - I stopped using them for about 3 months and have taken up the doses above again while they do more blood tests)

Other non-prescrition meds, remedies: acupuncture, homeopathic tea from acupuncturist (don't ask what was in it), hepeel (I'm not sure if I have the spelling right on this, but it is for the liver), vitamin E and Omega 3, aloe vera juice (this route takes a lot of patience, but it did seem to help for a while)

Creams & lotions that help: Gold Bond (in the green bottle), Lanacaine extra strength with Aloe and Vitamin E

Meds that did not work: all of them began not to work at one time

Other related ailments: P.U.P.P. pregnancy rash seemed to start my skin off to a road of constant hives (even though it's been 2 years now and the rash was supposed to go away after the baby was born)

Sulpha drugs allergies. Lactose intolerance.

Meds presently on (and quantities): Levoxyl(Amount is

not stabilised yet. Changes every 3 months. So far

took 88 mcg, 75mcg and 125 mcg).

Allegra as and when required.

Other non-prescrition meds, remedies: None

Creams & lotions that help: Calamine lotion helps

reduce itching.

Meds that did not work: Tried Homeopathy, Ayurved

also. They releived symptoms. But none was a permanent

cure. Hives came back every winter.

Other related ailments: Hypothyroidism(Hashimoto's

thyroiditis).(Borderline- TSH was never more than 10).

Family history - allergy/skin

Mother: No known allergies.

Father: No known allergies.

Siblings: One brother and one sister. No known

have delayed pressure urticaria and angioedema

Urticaria Poll

Present age: 35

Age urticaria started: 7

Type or urticaria (if known): Allergist thinks aquagenic, Im not

100%convinced but quite new to this as only diagnosed as urticaria last year

- before that it was hypochondria, all in my head or me over-reacting to a

little itch!

Length of present CU: Technically, 28 years but dont have full attacks every

day

Allergies & other triggers(if known) Water esp cold, others not yet

identified

Meds presently on (and quantities) - none (had not found any which helped

and thought I was out of options and would just have to bear it - then found

this email group - now can go to allergist with lots of suggestions)

Other non-prescrition meds, remedies - quercetin 500mg 2x per day, always

wear long trousers and usually long sleeves

Creams & lotions that help - none

Meds that did not work telfast, clarityne, diane-35, femulen (a couple of

other antihistamines which I have forgotten name of - allergist mentioned

nothing about H1 and H2 comination or any other possible remedies mentioned

in your emails apart from salycilates and hormones - will go back armed will

lots of info and start over with new hope - THANK YOU!)

Other related ailments - until finding this group would have said " none " now

wondering if some things might be related - need to look into this - thank

you again

Family history - allergy/skin

Mother similar skin problem ( " grew out of it " after menopause - cool, I

should be OK in 15 years)

Father none

Siblings 1 brother - eczema, sensitive to sunlight

Children - no

Hi,

Since thyroid disorders run in family and your mother

has allergies, I suggest, get her thyroid tested.

After I was found hypothyroid, I insisted and got my

mother go to a hospital. Know what, she is hypothyroid

too.

etc), Skin So Soft, Gain/Surf/All and other cheap detergents. Some

seasonal allergies also.

(but I do fine on 12 mg)

histamines in diet. Big fat wool coat and leather gloves
