Guest guest
Sorry, I am . I was the first patient to have the procedure at Durham Regional Hospital. Talk about challenges! I remember complaining to Dr. Rutledge about the nurses not being there for me ... then it dawned on me .... I DIDN'T NEED THEM MUCH! Dr. Rutlege made sure all my needs were covered so they did do a great job! My only complaint was not having a wheelchair big enough for someone my size. Please feel free to contact me anytime you need to talk. Always here to help. Take care,

Guest guest
Kathy, I just wanted to say Congratulations lady! You go! You have been one of those people that I keep thinking of when I get depressed. I think about how healthy and happy you looked when I saw you at the clinic in November. I also think of how one day that will be me. Everyone here keeps telling me they can see the weight loss and it is truly a wonderful feeling. At the same time I am scared I will fail at this too! Ya know? But anyways, with just 30 lbs gone I feel great. I, like you, would do it again in a Heartbeat! Congratulations again! Blessings to you! --- K Goodman wrote: > Well, Gang, > Today 1/6/99 is the 1 year anniversary of having > the > MGB with Dr. Rutledge. Guest guest
Kathy, Yours is a powerful letter of encouragement. Your doing marvelous, heartfelt congradulations. You sound so at ease with yourself and your life now. I hope in the next year to feel the same. I am 10 days postop now. Getting around, adjusting to my new stomach, and my skrinking body. Food is starting to look good again, so Im hitting a rough spot. I want to stay on liquids as long as it takes to heal , so not to harm what has been done. I feel I willl need some help. I get angry easily now, am not happy with how my home was taken care of, or not, while I was in hospital(3 DAYS). I know it will get better as my strength returns, I lack the pateince to wait I guess. I take care of 2 Grandaugthers, 7 & soon to be 6, and they are a handful. thanks to your letter I feel more encouraged. I also live in NC, at RTP, would love to meet you at next support meeting. jane 10:38 AM 01/07/2000 -0800, you wrote: >Well, Gang, > Today 1/6/99 is the 1 year anniversary of having the >MGB with Dr. Rutledge. Guest guest
Fred, I walk for exercise, but not a set amount just whatever I can get in. My New Years plan is to go 2'x a week to the Y, I have had back problems for years and still can't walk even a 1/2 mile without my back going numb, My chiropractor hopes/thinks that using the Nautilus equiptment will help to strengthen it. Your doing great to be running that much! I'd love to be able to WALK that much! Keep up the great work! Guest guest
Wonderful!! Congratulations on such a great outcome! And best wishes on reaching that " dream " goal. I'll just bet you do it too!! One question. Has the big weight loss helped with the Fibromyalgia? I too suffer from that awful disease and had sincerely hoped that a big loss would help with the leg and foot pain as well as the fatigue. Pat E. Guest guest
Kathy, Hi!!!!! When I read about your back problems I thought I woudl let you know what happened after I had surgery! The best thing I ever did was to get a trainer for awhile to help me relearn weight lifting. The one group of muscles that helped my back( lower lumbar problems) was to do quaddrasept lifts, but to do them standing instead of lying on my tummy. I found I had more stability standing and was able to use my abdominals to keep more supported. Between my doing weight lifting and recumbent biking at the gym, I very rarely have problems anymore, I am figuring once I get this weight off my abdomen after surgery that I will have an even beter time of it! Hope this helps!!!!
