I have my own " yogurt maker " (sort of a double-boiler contraption using a griddle) and I use Yogourmet's starter with no problems at all. I can keep the temp at 110 F +/- 1 degree and run it for ~24 hours. Works perfect. -- Cheers, DF in MA UC June '07 SCD Nov '
Guest guest
I use the Yogourmet starter with my Excalibur dehydrator. I see no reason why it wouldn't work with any method of making yogurt, since the goal is always to ferment milk between the temperatures of 100 and 110 degrees. In my humble opinion, it sounds like they are using a marketing pitch to get you to buy the Yogourmet yogurt maker. I have one, but decided to get the Excalibur too since the Yogourmet is small and has a tendency to overheat (you'll probably need a dimmer switch to keep it in the right temperature range). I only use it when I need to make a small batch of half and half yogurt for ice cream. Holly Crohn's SCD 12/01/08 > > I'm looking for a yogurt starter but don't have/use a Yogourmet yogurt > maker.
