Not all go through horror stories. Actually many do very well and Mara is

always super encouraging about her scopes. Sometimes we tend to talk about the

more negative experiences but there are many that breeze right on through!!

Mara said to me to " think positive " you should too!! I must focus on this as

well!

Wow, an enlightened doc. Is this a GI? He's a keeper!

GI's are usually such a miserable breed (do you blame them looking up people's

arses all day?)

Supportive docs of the diet (at least ones that don't naysay and discourage) are

very helpful!

Very Smart of you!!

Have you heard of E-lyte?

If you can't see the link look at the left side and scroll and click on " E Lyte "

This is a legal Electrolyte drink.

Very salty.

Nope. I guess the best bet is clear chicken soup. I am very worried about my

hypoglycemia as well as I get nauseas. I am just going to stay home and park

with my electric blanket and DVR.

Thanks, Jodi, for the e-lyte recommendation. I'll get some.

Dr. Owens' business card says M.D. The clinic is a gastroenterology

clinic here in Portland, Oregon.

We'll see how all of this goes. I'm certainly not looking forward to

voluntarily inducing diarrhea, after working so hard the last few

months to clear it up. But, I guess I have to keep the higher goal in mind.

You are in my prayers.

Hannah,

Wow! A doctor who admits that food can play an issue in our health! This

one may be a gem -- hold onto him! And, as little as I like medical

procedures, he's wise to consider eliminating other

possibilities.

Instead of Gatorade, order some E-lyte.

This was recommended by Kim M. and I found it incredibly useful in the

clean-out for my surgery and the clean-out for the colonoscopy. I also

found it useful in recovering from my surgery, because my electrolytes go

to h-ll in a hand basket when I'm under stress.

I used strained meat juices which gel as part of my protein, and also

legal gelatin to thicken broths and give protein.

Homemade juices are highly preferred -- I don't do well with apple juice,

but pear juice works fine for me.

I did a day of pureed foods, and two days of clear liquids. I drank a cup

or two of broth (or ate gelatin made with same) every hour I was awake,

and about every other hour, had some fruit juice along with the broth. I

put some E-lyte in each cup of broth, as it's salty-tasting and went well

with the broth.

Doc said the clean-out was good.

I'm going to another doctor in the same clinic and was taken seriously when I mentioned I was on SCD.I'm happy with them so far.On Wed, Apr 1, 2009 at 12:21 PM, Wizop Marilyn L. Alm wrote:
