Guest guest
Welcome to the group. Everything you are describing sounds like fibromyalgia. I also thought I had Carpal Tunnel Syndrome for years until I found out it was the fibro. I do not have carpal tunnel and I don't have arthritis. It just so happened that my fingers tingling was one of the very first symptoms of this monster back about 15 years ago or more. The first major flare I had right before diagnosis.... my hands were burning and hurting for about 3 or 4 weeks. The exhaustion is a typical thing to. The insomnia. Everything you are talking about here. I would almost bet a winning lottery ticket that you have fibro. Of course I am not a doctor and don't know you. I am a registered nurse though, like your friend. We get the brush off treatment from most of the medical profession because they can't see a definitive lab test or anything. Alot of us have been treated like hypochondriacs, liars, and drug seekers. ( I am fortunate.... I have a doc that believes me and knows about fibro). We have something else in common. I have a 5 year old and a 10 year old also. I am 43 and had them a little late in life..... before I knew this horrible fibromyalgia beast was with me. I love them dearly but I am limited as a parent as to how much I can do for them. I still work full time, but that is the only thing I can do. I have to spend my off time resting or I will never make it to work. I am in East Tx. My name is Debra Van Ness. Write me anytime personally or to the group. This is a wonderful group and I have been here almost everyday for the last year and a half. They are supportive, understanding, and knowledgable. I would love to converse with you anytime. hugs and welcome, Debra V. Jerilyn wrote: Hi. First let me say I am sorry you are going through all this. We all have or are so know how you feel. When you see a doctor, they will first rule out everything else since there is no laboratory test to diagnose FM. They will most likely test you for MS, Lupus, Lyme, vitamin deficiencies, thyroid disorders, and maybe other things. Maybe not all I listed, but maybe so. So it will be a long haul. Mine was only about a month because my docs were great. It is hard to find good doctors. But when you do you can get some relief once diagnosed. I myself am on Cymbalta for my pain. And Nexium for my acid reflux. Alot of people experience that with FM, but not all. I also take sleep meds. Lunesta right now. So good luck and please let us know what happens. Happy Holidays!!
