6 month antihistamine

Hi all,

My 15 year-old daughter has had hives on and off for years, . Her

allergist wants her to try a six month course of daily Zyrtec and

says it may " shut down " her hives permanently. She has taken

antihistamines only as needed til now. She is reluctant to be on

daily meds without some idea of a success rate or of possible dangers.

Does anyone have experience with this as a treatment? Did it work?

How did you feel?

Any info or feedback anyone could provide would be so welcome. Thanks,

Phoebe

Hi Pheobe, I am so sorry to hear your daughter is suffering with these nasty

hives. My daughter is three and has been on zyrtec for two years and no

miracles have happened :o( Maybe we could come up with some suggestions for

your daughter if you post a history of what type of CU she is battling and

other factors you think may be the true cause of the CU and what other labs

she has had done and what meds has she tried. Love, ~Alena's Mom
