Guest guest
Hi, . It is not unusual for members of the same family to have various autoimmune problems - which CU is about 1/2 the time, and some cases of asthma are, as well as allergies/sensitivities. From what I have read, these problems often tend to be different within the family - for example one member may develop lupus, another fibromyalgia (sp?), another asthma, and still another chronic urticaria. Also, it is not unusual for people with autoimmune problems to develop other autoimmune problems - I personally started with endometriosis (which is now believed to be autoimmune related), then added CU, rheumatoid arthritis and asthma to the mix. My brother also gets hives, as did my grandmother, and I've had 3 relatives die from idiopathic anaphylaxis (2 aunts and grandfather). From all the literature I've seen, familial CU is supposed to be extremely rare, but the tendency for autoimmunity is not. Finally, a recent study has shown that women with endometriosis, AND their children, have a much higher incidence of autoimmune problems than the norm. (I think this is one reason why endo is now believed to be an autoimmune disease.) Hope this helps answer your question. Air hugs, Jackie Life is tough, but I'm tougher. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
