Guest guest
This is a review from one of my friends, she's only young - um, not even sure if she's 20? I think she is? LOL... Anyhow..... The book is called: The Ultimate Guide to Sex and Disability: For All of Us Who Live with Disabilities, Chronic Pain and Illnessby Cory Silverburg, Miriam Kaufman, Fran Odette, Cory Silverberg And you can get it at: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1573441767/ And she says: This is one of the best resource books ever written. Ever. And every single person who identifies as disabled/chronically ill, and everyone who knows/loves someone who identifies as disabled/chronically ill, should own a copy. This book is going to be my own personal litmus test for all future reltionships... that sounds cold and clinical, and I don't mean it like that, but I don't deserve a relationship with anyone who won't read this and discuss the contents to at least some degree. And just for the record, sex as an act isn't even covered until a good halfway into the book... the earth-shattering, incredible things to me were covered long before that... things about self-image, coming to terms with who you are and becoming comfortable with yourself on your own terms - making that huge and sometimes precipitous leap from disabled child/teen to disabled adult, and then learning what that means in relationships with others. Reading that it is not my responsibility to change what society thinks of me, only what I think of myself... it's an obvious statement, isn't it? Nothing I didn't already know. But the *way* these topics are presented by this book is amazing. Please consider it. ____________________________________________________ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here
