Guest guest
I had the tram flap with my reconstructive surgery. I'm told it is close to having a hesterectomy. I hope you have someone who can take care of you...cook you meals, etc. for a week or two after you get out of the hospital. Guest guest
Sue - Here's an article about a woman who did it from CNN: http://www.cnn.com/HEALTH/library/WO/00096.html After a double, I waited two years, only to realize a) it's a personal decision and I didn't want to go through it before radiation, so I waited a year and decided not to. My best to you on your surgery and I wish you an "uneventful" recovery filled with cheer and love! Best,

Guest guest
Sue I had tram flap back in 1993 or 1994, so sad that I don't remember exactly when, LOL. Anyway, it was 2-3 years after my unilateral mastectomy. I felt really badly right after the surgery, but it took much longer than anticipated due to some of the docs not showing up to help my PS. He did a great job. It took at least 6 months to recover. My stomach was tender to the touch for about that long, I couldn't lean against a counter while cooking. Only problem I have now is that the reconstructed breast is about a cup size smaller than the other one. The "new" one gets bigger and smaller when I gain or lose weight. That is rather strange. I never had the nipple done, but I am satisfied overall with the whole thing. Much better (to me anyway) than having a prosthesis in my body. Good luck on your surgery, I will keep you in my prayers. hugs Pam
