Guest guest
Vicki, NOW we're talking my subject. What self-respecting biker wouldn't always have a pocket full of beef jerky. :-) I live for that stuff! It does not make me dump, it goes down easy after about 30 minutes of chewing, it's portable protein for the road and smells better than road kill... probably tastes better too. Unfortunately, the brand I use, which is absolutely amazing, is a brand not available many places. It's Best Kosher Beef Jerky, made right here in Chicago, and sold right here in Chicago... whenever they decide to make it. I buy a LOT at a time because I never know when they're going to run out. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but that topic excites me :-) (I'm truly in a pathetic state <smirk>) Judy in Chicago << Message: 12 Date: Fri, 01 Jun 2001 13:49:24 -0000 From: Imerman@... Subject: Beef Jerkey ? I have heard that some people eat beef jerkey to satisfy those chewing cravings, plus it is high in protein. Does anyone eat it and what brand? I bought some at WalMart and yuck, too sweet and it was original, not BBG or teriyaki. Does anyone make their own and what do you use for seasonings/marinade that doesn't make you dump? Guest guest
Has anyone made their own jerky with a food dehydrator? And if so, is it different to digest than regular meat? How did you tolerate it?Thanks!AlyssaMessages in this topic (10)Reply (via web post) | Start a new topicMessages | Files | Photos | Links | Database | Polls | Members | CalendarMARKETPLACEI make $350/day online. Guest guest
I make beef jerky fairly often, especially during hurricane season (always prepared!) but I use my oven as I don't have a dehydrator. I have to follow the same rules for jerky as I do with other meats and seasonings to accomodate my upper GI dysfunctions. I have to stick to certain cuts of beef, and only use salt as a seasoning. (I have Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction.) And I have to be careful on how much jerky I consume within a day's time or my upper GI starts objecting. So, yes, too much jerky can be a problem. As in every other food, moderation is best. But overall my digestion handles beef jerky very well. Kim M. SCD 5 years <<<<<<<<<<<< Has anyone made their own jerky with a food dehydrator? Guest guest
Alyssa, I just made a batch. It's a great treat for me and I don't have any problem with it. Of course, your milage may vary.
