Guest guest
Thanks, Ann! I have read recently that many docs misinterpret thyroid tests, and that a LOT more people have thyroid problems but aren't diagnosed because their numbers didn't match the doctor's preconceived notions (what a shock). I believe that is me as well. Regardless of your numbers, if you have symptoms, you probably should assume you have a problem! That's what I was wondering--if there was any information that would tell me whether or not the SCD would help with these types of issues. I am really hoping it does! Guest guest
Hi Marilyn2, I have hasimoto's (hypo thyroid) and I get my thyroid results back tomorrow, I'll let you know the results. It's the first test I've had since starting SCD 8 month's ago. Elaine said the diet helps balance the thyroid, we'll see..... Guest guest
Hi Marilyn2, I agree totally that docs can't interpret the tests, but since I've been on thyroid meds for 22 years and have kept records, I know what my numbers should look like. I only rely on the docs to order the test. If, as Elaine says, the condition is better I will be able to reduce the amount of hormone I take. The range on the tests are accurate but where we should fall within the range is very personal, so if I am taking too much thyroid, based on my pre-SCD levels, I'll know by the results. I think the success of SCD with these issuses depends on what type of disease you have. Mine is auto-immune and inflammation related, so I expect SCD will help. Probably with some other causes it won't. I don't have hypoglycemia, but I would think if one avoided the honey and limited the fruit, the blood sugar would be regulated. Guest guest
Thanks again, Ann! I guess time will tell just how many health issues can be helped or cured by the SCD. I have no idea where my thyroid problem came from. It just appeared recently. My thyroid number, according to traditional charts is "normal". But according to Dr. Mercola's website, which I tend to believe more often than not, the very number I have indicates a problem. Most doctors will only go by the traditional charts, though. I am not sure yet if I will seek treatment, or just try dietary intervention for a while. Right now, life it too crazy to start making appointments and adding to the craziness, so I guess I'll wait until we move (probably only a matter of weeks now). And anyway--mommies can't get sick, right? Marilyn2 Feeling the pinch at the grocery store? Make meals for under $10.
Guest guest
Hi M2, If you suspect hypothroidism, the best non-medical test is to take your temp every morning upon awakening, if it's consistantly low, you're probably hypo. I believe this is more accurate than the blood test. Another way that you can tell is if you've lost the hair on the outer portion of your eyebrow, strange but true symptom. I got my results back from the thyroid test and sure enough, after 8 months of SCD I can reduce the amount of thyroid hormone I take. All the best.....
