Guest guest
Hi , Sorry so late in getting back to you. Between my own back pain and the Christmas shopping(or trying to ) my mom's had back surgery and been back to ER twice this week. Yesterday they finally admitted her with spinal fluid leaking and reopened her last night around 9:30. She had a pocket of fluid the size of an orange. Plus I was in a wedding yesterday. Needless to say all the standing and sitting in hospital chairs has put me through the ringer. I do have Monday to look forward to...another try at a block on my back. I pray this one works. In answer to your question....I have heard of trazidone but only as an anti-depressant. I was also given it in the beginning of my problems when I couldn't sleep at night. It really seemed to help in that department. How are you doing with the liquids? I hope you're finally able to get some nourishment in you. The pain management doctor I go to is really good. I go once a month to discuss how the meds are working and if anything has changed. When I first went I told him I wanted to try conservative treatment since I wanted to work as long as I can. These are the meds he has me on....Zanaflex-a muscle relaxer...Neurontin-it's on anti seizure med but they also use it for nerve pain....Phenergan as needed...Darvacet for pain....Vicadin as needed for pain...Celebrex for immflamation...From my Gasto Dr I also take Prevacid, Viokase and now I'm also on insulin. I've also had 2 Nerve Root blocks. The first one worked great for 2 months, the second one didn't work and now I'm scheduled Monday for my 3rd one. On the second one he also did the right side of my back but had used the same amount of medication as with the first one and he seems to think it was too diluted and that's why it didn't work so we're trying again only on the left side. That's where most of my back pain is. Yes, I've had the Whipple. I had it in August of 99. I had a tumor on the head of my pancreas. It took three long months of constant pain and many tests before they found out what was wrong. All my pain started in May 99. They had done 2 ERCP's and blood work right before my surgery and thought by one blood test done as a cancer marker that it was pancreatic cancer. Thank God is wasn't . He told me 99% of the time it is cancer so I'm VERY lucky. I still have lots of problems but at least I am alive to feel the pain. What is your history with this dreadful disease? I hope that pain management will be able to help you. I encourage you to go and seek help. I one can't help keep trying till you find a good one. I hope this finds you having a good day today. Let me hear from you soon and I will be keeping you in my prayers. Terri L.
Guest guest
, I saw your post to Leon. What state are the two of you in? The two cities you mentioned....are they in Texas...if not we have them too. I was wondering because I'm in Baytown which is fairly close to Bay City I believe. I have an aunt from Midland. If your mentioning Texas what a small, small world. I would love to meet you if your interested. Terri L.

Do you have back problems and are some of the medications for that as well? We are all so different and different medications effect all of differently, but it is nice to know about as many possibilities as there are out there. Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for the suggestion about the state insurance. I live in Ohio. I have never heard of state insurance, so we much not have it. I do get the phone cards all the time, they are pretty nice to use. Honestly, I don't miss the long distance. The only time I use it is when I have to call Dr. Lehman. How are you doing this weekend? Thanks again for the info. Lots of Hugs, ______________________________________________________________________ > , > My dad just bought me a phone card for about $20.00. It has 500 minutes on > it. I think he bought it at Sam's Club or Walmart. Try both of those. Guest guest
Hey , About my father-in-law.........he is still hanging in there. They were moving him to the other hospital here in town because of an insurance problem. They are going to put him on the skilled nursing floor. He is sleeping alot. When he is awake, it looks like he is looking right through you, like his eyes aren't focused. Its really sad. I wasn't allowed to go in & see him because of this lung thing that is going on. Well, the new lung doc I saw yesterday is also treating my father-in-law, so I ask if it was OK to go into his room, the doctor looked at me & said, he isn't doing to good at all, it isn't going to hurt anything if you do go in, so yes, its ok. It made me so sad. Before I met my husband, I had met his dad. I worked at a local manufacturer in the office doing the shipping papers, and his dad was a maintance man. He use to tell my husbands 1st wife that he had someone all picked out for him, so she had better treat him better. She was screwing around on him with his best friend, so after the divorce, I met him. But his dad didn't introduce us, it was just a coincidence (sp?) wow, I really butchered that word!. I hope you had a wonderful day today, my friend. I gotta go get my twins from school now. Guest guest
I know what you mean about the physicians always questioning on alcohol. When I first went to my GI doc, he took the history and told him that all my life (i am now 42) I never drank more than about 5 drinks per YEAR for example at a wedding or event. I just dont care for alcohol (wish i could say the same for brownies). Last week the doc had the nerve to requestion me on insinuate that i must use alcohol. I write these comments off as ignorance on their part and the failure of the medical community to progressively recognize the many faces of pancreatitis.. tom

Guest guest
, I'm doing some better. I don't always have to share the computer. only when my mom comes up every other weekend, though she's been up here more since she got laid off, that's why I have to argue for rights to my own. Her's is down in the trailer she stays at the rest of the time and it is not portable in the least. Kimber
