Guest guest
I've been on SCD for 5 years. Last year (my 4th on SCD) I tried eating 4 french fries once, but I suffered for several days afterward, just not as badly as 5 years ago. I've put potatoes on my once-a-year food list. Haven't tried popcorn, but then I never liked popcorn even before my digestive disorders developed. Still can't touch any other form of starches or complex carbs; even a mouthful will do me in. On the other hand, now I'm able to tolerate dried fruit and chopped nuts in muffins, as long as I don't have more than one nut flour muffin per day. And I can even have a piece or two of dark chocolate once a week. Dark chocolate was the one illegal I really missed, so I'm thrilled. I can't handle all brands of dark chocolate, and am not thrilled about the additives or source of ingredients in the commercial chocolates, so I'm currently experimenting with making my own chocolates. Of course my digestion doesn't tolerate more than half of the legal foods, so I won't be trying and/or adding more illegals anytime soon. I'm just thankful that my digestive symptoms are under good management, and that my digestion tolerates the SCD legals that I do eat. I have functional digestive disorders, so can't expect to reach a "cure" just control. And for that, I'm extremely thankful that I discovered SCD. I hate to think what shape I'd be in if I hadn't been on SCD for 5 years... Kim M. SCD 5 years >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Is there anyone here who can eat potatos and popcorn again? I really miss both of these. Just need to know that someone actually got better and can eat them again. Thanks
