Im getting chemo a/c - 4 cycles Starting end of next week

Hang in there girl! Don't overwhelm yourself with too many questions. Know that you are in very capable hands with your oncologist and remember to ASK FOR SAMPLES! I'm a firm believer in letting them give you everything you need. We suffer enough and some of these co-payments are just unbelievable. ASK ASK ASK! and you shall receive.

I had 4 treatments of A/C, followed by 4 of Taxol, and I'm here to tell the TALE! Actually Sunday will be my (2) year anniversary and I'm very proud as you will be too.

I had steroid pills, along with EMEND and another anti-nausea that was thrown in the mix for better results. As long as you tell them what you are feeling, you will have less problems managing your side effects. Key word here: TELL them.

The quicker you start, the quicker you'll be on your way back to being "sandy."

Hi Sandy, I had my first treatment of a/c last Wednesday, and it went very well, a little tired (I think due to the anxiety). I had no problems at all the day of or the next, the 3rd day, I got a little constipated and nausea, just a little, as they gave me a 5 day shot before the chemo and Prochlorperazin for any break through times, it good up to 8 hours at a time. After 3 days of the couldn't go, I went and the go 1 day of diarrhea, now I just tire a little quicker.

On the day of chemo, I drank water and lemonade from the time I got up all the way up to chemo and drank more during and all night, so my kidney's were very flushed and that is what my onc want me to do, so that I could go to the bathroom every 2 hours for up to 48 hours.

As far as prepping before the treatment, I bought seneca for the constipation and Imodium AD for the diarrhea, made plans to get plenty of rest, in between my job and home duties. And have eaten when I feel like it. So far so good. Hope this helps. I'm sure you will do just fine.

I have just finished the fourth of my A/C treatments, and while it

isn't what I'd choose to do for my summer vacation, it is not bad all

the time. Be prepared for some fatigue and nausea in the few days after

each treatment, and it will get a little worse with each one. HOWEVER,

it does go away. Out of each 14 day cycle, I've had 4 bad days and the

rest good.

If you have kids, lay in some help (relatives, strangers on the street,

whatever it takes) for the few days after chemo.

PS: Wear pull down pants to chemo so you don't mess up your line if you

have to " go " .

I just had my 4 yr anniversary around Memorial Day Week-end...I had 8 rounds of chemo every three...had mine on a Monday afternoon and would take off three days and then try to work Thurs and Fri with a stomach ache...had done about 6 treatments when I had a low grade fever and low blood count...was in hospital for 4 days...then I stayed home for a week from work after the chemo...The first 4 rounds had two drugs and then the last 4 round was changed to just one different drug...All I could eat was tomato soup...They control your chemo so you dont feel that bad...The other two weeks inbetween chemo I went back to work...Just watch out if you get a low grade fever...The only real bad thing was loosing my mom suddenly the day before my 5th chemo treatment.
