I agree. I work for a nursing home. It is the lesser of evils for me now days

when it comes to the stress levels. I am also an R.N. I did telemetry for a

while before. I just don't want to deal with the stress of hospitals anymore

now that the fibro has moved in to stay.

And I will add that if I had of been scheduled to work all the holidays, I

would not have expected or even asked anyone to give them to me. That would

just be a given... I have to work.

Thanks,

hugs and love,

Debra V.

Hey Debra,

I am also a nurse, was just wondering what kind of facility you work at? hosp.?

nsg hme? You did the right thing by not giving up your days off for Christmas

especially if u worked TG and are wking Nw Yrs. Time with ur kids/fami;y is

always first priority, life is too short and difficult, u need to spend every min

u can with family. When my kids were 3 and 5 (they are in their 20's now) I lost

my mom at the age of 54, after that I didn't hardly want to work I wanted to

stay home and spend all my time with my kids. LIfe is too precious to let the

good/special times go by, Your kids will always remember having a great

Christmas with mom. The nurse at work that wanted to chg shifts will find

another way to spend time with her family. We sometimes need to spend more time

worrying about ourselves than others especially if u are a nurse.Have a great

Christmas!!!

Jodi-ps spent 10 yrs as hosp RN on tele. floor and have been doing home health

for last 15!

Hi Debra V,

Sorry I thought you agreed to let that girl off on one of your days.

Great of you to not agree to it.

love,

have different days off every week. It just so happened that my days

off fell on the 24th and 25th this month. LUCKY ME. Anyway, my

supervisor had asked me to give up one of those days for the day

nurse who's schedule falls to work both days. I was going to.... but

it would have put me working 9 days straight with one off in the

middle. That would kill me.

> I also think..... would she do the same for me????/ No I don't

think she would. I know I worked last Christmas because I was new

there. (without time and half pay too, because 90 days was not up

for me). That nurse has young kids, but so do I. So I changed my

mind several weeks ago and told my boss.

> I also worked Thanksgiving and am scheduled to work New Year's

day. So I think it is fair. I guess I just get tired of people

trying to walk over me because I am " so nice " . I have a 5 and 10

year old myself. And I work 2-10 pm which puts me not seeing my kids

sometimes for a 4 day stretch. The other nurse works 6am to 2pm and

spends EVERY night with her children. She refused in the beginning

to trade off and work even 1 or 2 of the evening shifts a week so I

would not have to do all of them.
