Dear Rita,

I am just so sorry you have to endure this heartbreak at a time that should

be joyful having your kids home. I think you are so loving to bring Zachary

home and make his last days filled with love surrounded by a family who loves

him so much.

My heart goes out to you. You have my deepest sympathies Rita.

Love

Rita;

I don't know what percent renal function my kitty had (this was a different cat

than the one I told you about before), but I maintained him on subcutaneous

fluids twice weekly for almost 2 years before he finally passed away. I don't

want to give you false hope, but both with that cat (Wolfgang) and the one

suspected of FIP (Sonic) we were given death sentences and the cats didn't

listen to those!

I will keep you and your family, and Zeester in my prayers and thoughts.

Keep us posted.

We just got a dog through an animal refuge. We called him Jack ( jack russell

x). He has a broken front paw which never got fixed, a very bad flea problem, a

bare bum due to fleas, and part of his ear missing. I pat him and think its ok

now jack you have a nice family and the kids will only kill you with there love.

I am truly touched by this. I am more of a " dog " person, but you are right -

they are family. I cried like a baby when my family dogs died. At least he will

have family around him, and he knows he's loved.

Ok, gotta stop. Choking up.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your whole family.

Oh Bree - I'm so happy for your family and " JACK " - I just love that you chose a

pet from an animal refuge. I wish you all many years of joy together! I hope

you have a Christmas stocking hanging for him - LOL Hugs, Rita

Rita:

I am glad that you talked to the vet. It sounds like yours is very caring.

Wolfie wouldn't eat at first, either. I figured, well, if he didn't have much

chance at living on a renal diet, and if he didn't eat he was going to die

anyway, I needed to GET HIM TO EAT.

So, I started with mixing a little water with tuna, to get some protein in him.

I used a syringe and gently put some 'tuna juice' in his mouth. Once he got a

taste of it, he let me feed him. Over the course of the next few days, I got him

to start eating the special renal kitty food.

Wolfie never once fought me on giving the fluids. Its as if he knew that it was

helping him. Originally, Rob helped me, and then I found out I could just hold

him between my legs and put the needle in, he sat perfectly still. Wolfie had a

very good quality of life until the last week of his life, and that lasted

almost 2 years. He even caught mice!

When he finally got in the throes of renal failure once again, the fluids didn't

touch him. I decided to just love him all I could, and he died several days

later.

I hope that you will have some luck getting Zeester to eat. I am SO MAD at those

" Christmas bandits " ...there are some really sick people in this world. I am

amazed for you to have the attitude you do. I hope that you will be able to have

a good Christmas despite all that has happened. Take care, and keep us posted on

Zeester.

PS DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE BONNIE IS? I have missed her.
