Guest guest
Hi all, I am new on here. I have not been formally diagnosed as of yet. In fact, my Dr. really hasn't taken the time to listen to me at all. A friend who is a nurse and knows what all has been going on with me suggested that FM might be the source of my issues. So now I need to find a Dr. to try and follow up and maybe finally get some answers. So here is my story. I have had some bouts of depression, nothing major and anti-d's worked for me quickly. In the past year I have just felt like my body is falling apart. I ache a majority of time, from the time I get up until I go to bed at night. I go to sleep quickly, but I can never stay asleep and I am usually still exhausted when I wake up in the morning. I have having major issues with my feet and my hands...my feet ache ANY time I have been sitting for more then 5 minutes at a time. When I get back up, I can hardly walk and have to limp around. My hands ache and tingle at times. I have been tested for arthritis and carpal tunnel, negative on both. My back and neck are always aching and well I get pains and aches everywhere from time to time. I feel exhausted all the time and once I get through the day at work, when I get home and I finally sit down..that's it I am done for the night. I literally cannot get back up and moving again, which sicks since I have two kids ages 10 and 5. Anyway, just wondering if what I have described sounds like FM to you guys..since I know you are the experts on this. I am just kind of lost as to what to do next and where to go...when I went to my Dr. previously about this he pretty much said that there was nothing wrong and that I needed to exercise more (, umm OK I used to walk 1-3 miles a day until the pain stopped me!) and relax more...I am too young for these issues! In all honesty, I feel like I am 34 in the body of a 70 year old! Thanks for your opinions, I appreciate any and all.
Guest guest
Hi. First let me say I am sorry you are going through all this. We all have or are so know how you feel. When you see a doctor, they will first rule out everything else since there is no laboratory test to diagnose FM. They will most likely test you for MS, Lupus, Lyme, vitamin deficiencies, thyroid disorders, and maybe other things. Maybe not all I listed, but maybe so. So it will be a long haul. Mine was only about a month because my docs were great. It is hard to find good doctors. But when you do you can get some relief once diagnosed. I myself am on Cymbalta for my pain. And Nexium for my acid reflux. Alot of people experience that with FM, but not all. I also take sleep meds. Lunesta right now. So good luck and please let us know what happens. Happy Holidays!! Guest guest
Welcome Misty. Everything you describe sound like fibro to me. You definitely need to fire your doctor and find one who will listen and treat you. Another great lady in our group has mentioned a website called www.ratemds.com. Someone correct me if I got that wrong. On the site, you can rate your current doctor and look for docs in your area who have excellent ratings and read the comments their patients have posted. If you tell us where you are located, someone might be able to give you a doc's name that they use. The important thing to remember is you are no longer alone dealing with this. We are a FaMily here, and we will care, listen and support you. Many of us have children and deal with guilt feelings because we can't be the moms we want to be for our kids. Well, enough said for now. Hope I've helped you out a bit. Jeanne in WI > Hi all, > > I am new on here. I have not been formally diagnosed as of yet.
