Jodi,

Considering how much I, at least, came unglued about that colonoscopy in

January, the idea that anyone could/would write poetry about it boggles

the imagination.

Though I was less worried about the procedure itself than about the

co-health issues which the PCP and the gastro basically ignored until I

had a screaming fit about it. And one shouldn't have to have a screaming

fit to get a doc to pay attention.

Poetry, hmm....

Thanks for this, Marilyn.

It is pretty freaky. But so are colonoscopies, when you think

about what they really involve.

It’s nice to see somebody has a sense of humor about them. Of

course, those guys are giving them, not receiving them!

I just can’t wait to have a free colonscopy!

Though my poem acknowledges the need for colonoscopies, I’m

not exactly itching to go out and have one. My most recent was last August, and

I trust I won’t need another one before next August. (For me that day of “cleaning

out” is quite a bit worse than the procedure itself.)

So I’ll take the $500 and run. I don’t live in

Florida, in any case, which is where the clinic is that’s offering the

freebie.

I am a writer by profession, but not a poet. Poetry is a

whole other thing. Even lighthearted poetry. Writing that kind of verse takes a

certain kind of talent (that I may or may not have). So I’m not expecting

to win. But it was an amusing diversion for a few hours yesterday afternoon (when

I should have been seriously working).
