Guest guest
I dont know anything about Dubai-BUT-- they MUST have a grocery store, fruit, meat etc some where to be found. I would email the hotel and ask them where the closest store is and if there are microwaves in the room (or request one). If you have a microwave you are golden. You can cook all your meat (not the best-- but at least its cooked) and your veggies (boil in water). You can always bring canned tuna with you too. Also ask for resturants in the area and just ask them for plain broiled meat with no sauce. From my understanding Dubai is a fairly affluent place, so they should have some english speaking people to help out. My main concern would be the air plane ride. Bring a few days worth of cooked pattys, veggies, and fruit-- hard boiled eggs are good too. I think if you really want to go, you can make it work- just plan ahead and have a great time! > > I have potentially a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to Dubai Mar 24-Mar3`1 for next to nothing. I know nothing of this coutry and I am worried about being able to manage the scd food restrictions should I be in this country? I would be staying at the Holiday Inn, Dubai: > SHEIKH ZAYED ROAD > PO BOX 115443 > DUBAI, 115443 > > Has anyone travled over there with success? > Can I get groceried over there? > I noticed one American Steakhouse called , " JWs " Steakhouse -has anyone been there or have other restaurant suggestions? > Will English speaking venues and epople be going difficult to find? > > I am operating on stage 1 and some stage 2 foods right now (I am at 20 mg Prednisone for a flare that shows very little symptoms at all right now). Guest guest
Hi, This reminds me of a story I heard at my dog park yesterday. This lady there who has a lot of health problems (including arthritis, and I think MS) went to Africa for 3 weeks. She was really afraid she would get sick. She didn't, but got sick when she came home. In Africa, she ate lots of fruits and vegetables. When she came back to the US, she ate at Denny's. Once again, it made me realize how I will never go back to eating the SAD. Anyway, I think it would be possible for you to remain SCD on your trip, especially if you could get a room with a little kitchenette. Good luck!
