Guest guest
My experience has been that the longer I was on SCD the more improved my food sensitivities have become. When I started SCD I had to rotate all my vegetables due to food sensitivities -- I broke out in hives and had respiratory distress if I ate them two days in a row. That has improved significantly, after 5 years on SCD, so now I only need to rotate 4 or 5 vegetables. Of course there are several I don't eat at all because my body reacts with hives every time. But there is a difference between sensitivity and allergy. It all depends on your body's reactions to nuts after you've been off them for a while. For example, after eating yogurt for a year I developed a more extreme dairy sensitivity that is really an allergic reaction, so I have had to stop eating dairy. All my joints became severely inflamed. So, no more dairy for me. If it's of any use, I only have one serving of a nut flour muffin or piece of bread per day. My digestion doesn't cope too well, and I've learned that when my digestion doesn't cope, my body eventually reacts allergically or with extreme sensitivity. You definitely don't want to eat a food that causes extreme reactions, either to your digestion or your immune system. I would wait several months at least before trying a nut flour muffin, and then just have a bit of one and wait a few days before having it again. You don't want to end up in the ER. Kim M. SCD 5 years >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I was planning to start myself and two girls to go SCD and so in experimenting with some of the recipes first to get confident, I really loved the almond muffins and beet brownies and ended up having those every day and was getting progressively more rashy, finally my face blew up and I have been diagnosed with a NUT Allergy!!My questions is this: if i go thru the stages properly could i become un-allergic or is this it for the rest of my life. The doc of course says adults don't become unallegic, but still I am hoping.....
