Guest guest
I also have chronic constipation due to upper GI malfunctions. It has improved the longer I've been on SCD, but I still need to use Miralax daily, plus add magnesium regularly. Miralax is now OTC, which is good news, and it is legal on SCD. When I started SCD I was on Zelnorm and Miralax, and still had bouts of severe constipation, so I decided it was connected to detoxing or else just my particular motility issues. I wish Zelnorm was still available, but at least now I only get a bout of more severe constipation when I eat out and get something illegal. Amitiza is another motility medication. I tried it for 3 months, but developed severe joint pain, so had to stop using it. Regarding muffins -- when you try them and what flavor you make them is up to you. My only warning is that anything made with nut flours affects my motility (increases the constipation) so I've had to adjust how much almond flour I use, and keep myself to only eating one nut flour muffin or piece of bread per day. Almond flour and cashew flour is particularly constipating for me, so I use mostly pecan or walnut flour when I make muffins. I like to add some almond flour to the mix, but I make sure that the amount is less than half. Kim M. SCD 5 years
Guest guest
Thanks for the help. I wasnt sure if Miralax was legal or not-- I was also taking Amitiza (illegal) and another illegal laxative. I am in teh process of experimenting. I think I will switch every other day-- Miralax and the illegal laxative to see if that will suffice. I did find a recipe for muffins and preads that are nut free on Pecan Bread so i used Beets in that (recommended for C), and I tried the Prune Juice this morning. Thanks the help! > > I also have chronic constipation due to upper GI malfunctions. It has improved the longer I've been on SCD, but I still need to use Miralax daily, plus add magnesium regularly.
