Everyone around here has had some sort of upper respiratory infection!

I have had a sinus headache for a week now, not infection though as I

blow clear. I irrigate my sinuses every day and take mucinex, and

allegra for allergies, as well as flonase. But this sinus headache

doesn't seem to want to give it up!

I'm south of Dallas, not sure what's " in the air " this week. My allergy

report only said low to moderate fungus, but I usually flare if fungus

gets high. It never fails, and I never noticed til hubby pointed it out.

Hi Melody,

Can understand about your bad sinus headache. I have had one for 5

days now, also. Mostly between my eyes to under my nose. Every day I

flush with Ayr twice a day but that doesn't help. Don't blow anything

out either so think I need steroid. Must be something in the air here

in Texas to cause our headache. Hope yours is better by Christmas.

If I take a sudafed it helps tremendously, but then I get medicine head

and insomnia. I took a sudafed Wednesday and felt better for a while,

but slept so poorly Wednesday night.

I do full blown irrigating of my sinuses. I shoot the saline as far up

as it'll go and let it drain back out. Sometimes if I think I'm clogged

deep, I'll go upside down to let the saline get way in there deep. I

started this in 2004 after I had a really bad sinus infection that took

six months and three rounds of antibiotics and still wouldn't go away.

The irrigating seemed to clear out all the extra gunk that wouldn't come

out. I have problems since but so far no infections as long as I keep

up with the irrigating. I don't know if I need to go to the doc or

not. I don't sound 'nasally' like I usually do if my sinuses are

swollen or clogged, just a sinus headache and pressure above the eyes,

on the cheeks, behind the ears, and straight up on both sides of my

head. It just gets old, lol!

I also have chronic sinus infections...which I rarely report to the dr anymore,

she just sticks me on antibiotics and constant year round doses of antibiotics

don't seem like a good idea to me...about the only meds I take for the

stuffiness are sudafeds and multi symptom cough and cold syrup when it moves

into my lungs.

I wonder if I get infections too, just fight them off more naturally.

Because several times a year, everything clogs up and I'll just take

mucinex, vitamins, fluids, hot baths, irrigate the sinuses, exercise,

and of course my allegra, flonase, and the occasional sudafed. It

usually does the trick. I'm hoping this current sinus headache that's

lasted a week isn't a deep infection that needs antibiotics. I read on

the mayo clinic sight that antibiotics do very little for sinus

infections, and that was why they recommended saline washing or

irrigating.

I never knew the sinus issues were linked to fibro til I started getting

the frequent and aggressive infections.
