Where should I start, I have been on a long journey that probably

started in 1995 after a miscarriage. I hemmoraged alot and did not

recover quickly. Slept all the time, very puffy, several mo's my fp

diagnosed me with hypothyroidism. As time passed I wasn't able to

get to sleep at night til 3 or 4 in the morning. My legs would drive

me nuts with the urge to move along with pain. My fp then diagnosed

me with restless leg syndrome. Prescribed requip. It helped the

restlessness for a while, did nothing for the pain. My fp then sent

me to a neurolagist. He tripled my requip dosage. By this time the

pain is all over. Espescially bad in the mornings, change of

weather, after over doing it, etc. My neurolagist then sends me to a

rhymatoligist. He rules out lyme's, lupus, rhymatial arthritis, etc.

and diagnosed me with polymyalgia. The treatment for poly is

steriods (predinisone) I think this is a nasty drug!! Poly is

suppose to go away within a year or two. I'm still on predinisone,

ever so slowly tapering off. By March 1 I should be off. I

recently, switched to a new rhymatoligist. After doing my own

research, I felt my symtoms pointed more to fibro and not poly. My

old prior doc could not get that word out of his mouth, that would

have meant he misdiagnosed me. After the new doc did his own lab

testing and the tender point test, I FINALLY heard him refer to

fibromyagia. Sorry for the long background, but it has been a

progressing problem going back to 1995. My new doc recommended

starting lyrica. I'm alittle skeptical with one of the side effects

being weight gain. The prednisone has made me gain tons of weight.

Any insight on giving this med a try would be greatly appreciated.

I'm happy to have found this group to be able to talk to people who

understand. My family is not very supportive, to them I look fine.

My next appointment is to get a tatoo on my forhead that says, " I HURT "

Thank you!
