Guest guest
Hi everyone! I'm pretty new to this group, though we've followed the SCD for about 18 months now (my son has Crohn's and is in complete remission!). Immediately after his diagnosis I ordered the Yogourmet yogurt maker. I have read previous posts here about the Excalibur, though, and now I'm really curious. Why is it better? Someone give me the hard sell! Thanks!
Guest guest
Hi, I definitely prefer the Excalibur over the Yogourmet for 2 reasons: you can make as much as 8 quarts at one time (we are big time yogurt eaters), and you can set the temperature at 105 and it stays that way. No more using a dimmer switch and checking the temperature like with the Yogourmet. I also look forward to dehydrating fruits and veggies, but the only thing I've done so far is some parsley. It would be fun to do beef jerky too, but that's quite a ways off for me yet. Holly Crohn's SCD 12/01/08 > > Hi everyone! Guest guest
I recently purchased the Excalibur 3000 because it has a timer and I'm not sorry that I splurged. I got it here: http://www.excaliburdehydrator.com/about.htm It has lots of space - I can dry stuff on trays and fit lots of yogurt jars in it (the temperature for each kind of food may vary though and they have a setting for the common types of food). My Yogourmet started to burn up a bit (overheat) which didn't actually happen until about a year into its use. If I only wanted to make yogurt I would have purchased the dimmer switch, but since we love dried fruits and jerky, it was a no-brainer. I keep the dehydrator in the garage because it is a bit noisy and it does heat up the surrounding space to some degree. I originally had it in the pantry, but the space began to heat up. The yogurt comes out perfectly every time! What a pleasure. I hope it lasts a while! a www.comfybelly.com
