Guest guest
Ruthie - Thanks for sharing your experience. I wonder if it would be better to just go with once a day for a week or so, then upping it to twice a day. I believe these side effects wear off after your system becomes used to the drug. It's scary when they make us react like that at the start. I myself haven't been on Lyrica, but other drugs have caused side effects. Usually, you do reach a point where the side effects go away and then the medicine becomes more worthwhile. I believe Theresa in TN was having the same problems you describe. Take care, Ruthie, and Happy Holidays. Jeanne in WI > First, thanks to all for the warm welcome. I could hardly walk, bounced off the walls and couldn't even get out of my clothes to go to bed. Tried to write a note and my handwriting was unreadable! My fingers wouldn't work and I couldn't focus my eyes. The next morning I had a " hangover " from it and didn't take any more pills. I can't reach my Doc til Wednesday, but no matter what he says, I am off Lyrica. Who can live like that? I would rather have the pain. Seriously! The Lyrica may take the " great swim " . I hope for much better for those of you who are trying this new med, but it is not to be for me. Just an observation - I know a few other women in my area with Fibro and we are all tense or anxious people. Which came first? I know I am in love with my Shiatsu massage pillow. It is just about the only way my back relaxes. Oh, wine helps too. LOL! Well, time to feed the cats. And take a nice warm bath. Hope you all get your heart's desire for Christmas. > > Ruthie
Guest guest
Sorry about including all the text but for some reason my computer wont let me delete part of it. It used to let me... hummm... Yes, Ruthie I had that drunk feeling on Lyrica at first. I had to work, so I just took it at night before bed for 5 days then on the weekend I decided to try the day dose also since I was staying home. On Saturday, I had the " high " feeling about 3 hours after taking the daytime dose, which I always take at 9 am. On sunday I went to church but never got that feeling and have been fine since. Dont give up on it! It is wonderful once your body adjusts. I have very little pain now and I am on only 150 mgs a day. I also take asprin and inbuprophin (sp) in the morning. That is usually all I need. My back was hurting last night though from all the pie baking and cleaning for my family Christmas today but I expected that. Try it that way and let me know if it works. Have a wonderful Christmas! Theresa in Tn Dave and Jeanne wrote: Ruthie - Thanks for sharing your experience. Guest guest
Ruthie, I have heard many say that Lyrica does this to them at first. It apparently goes away after a week or so. The side effects of feeling drunk will go away. If you can stand it, give it time sweetie. This is unfortunately what alot of people go through before they reach some relief with this med. Oh and Anxious????? I have been anxious all my life and was diagnosed with depression about 16 years ago. In my case, the anxiety disorder and depression came before the fibro. Just something to add the the poll. LOL. Merry Christmas, and a big warm welcome again. Hugs, Debra v. Ruthie wrote: First, thanks to all for the warm welcome. Guest guest
I had similar response when I gave up Neurontin to try Lyrica. My primary could not understand when I tried to tell him how I reacted; claimed he had never heard of such a reaction and that it is widely used for diabetics. All I could say was that it hit me quite differently and that I might be willing to try again down the road, but at least with your post, it's nice to know it's not just me!! Perhaps there is something very different in FM patient's bodies than diabetics -- who knows, but it also seems to me that when I reread the poss side effects, these were w/in the warnings, so I don't understand how no one else could ever have complained of the same reaction -- perhaps just not w/in his experience, but at least now I know that mine was not the only one out there! Thank you and Merry Christmas/Holidays to everyone. Cheryl M. > > First, thanks to all for the warm welcome.
