Has anyone had much success with Lialda for UC. Just curious, since my

daughter is on it. Also, would someone please provide me with the name

of an SCD legal Fish oil for her. She is having major trouble with UC

presently./

Thanks

Hi Felicia,

I have been on Lialda for several months and it has helped me tremendously.

I was diagnosed with UC last June or July after a colonoscopy and Prometheus blood test to differentiate from Crohn's. I had a very mild presentation--just rectal bleeding and mild gassiness. However, I didn't start on the Lialda right away and didn't follow SCD 100% until my symptoms seemed to increase--frequency, diarrhea. It took several months-approx 2 for all symptoms to go away--including the bleeding, which I understand from following this discussion group is the last symptom to go.I credit adherence to SCD with this speedy recovery as well, because I noticed immediate improvement when I started following it 100% and did not see immediate improvement with just medication alone. My next goal is to start decreasing the Lialda in a very slow way. I am tolerating the Lialda well with no side effects that I notice. My understanding is that it is a local effect and therefore, side effects are minimized. I also understand that it can take a minimum of 3 months to start seeing remission with Lialda.

Best of luck,

Terry

No--I did not. It eliminated the gassiness I was experiencing as one of my UC symptoms. As I said before--I have no side effects that I notice and my bowels are normal, once a day, no bleeding and no discomfort at all.

Regarding the person who took Lialda - one of the side effects seems to be increase flatulence - did you notice this in your experience?aiazeenSCD 6 monthUC 5.75 yts
