I don't need to know the answer, but does still produce urine? If so,

it could be that they just shouldn't count any reasonable amount she drinks

during dialysis. Then, if she drinks say, a can of ginger ale or a cup of

tea, she wouldn't crash at the end of dialysis. What about BP meds? I know

some hemodialysis patients who are told not to take their BP med(s) on

dialysis days. Ask the nephrologist though.

At my dialysis centre, they don't set the machine to take off whatever

patients drink during the dialysis treatment if they still urinate. For

example, when I do this, I might come off the machine .2 or .3 kg heavy, but

I just urinate it later, often the same night after I get home, or by

morning, so it ends up not making any difference overall. The few times I

haven't had a drink during dialysis (which I usually drink right at the

start of treatment), I have have had low enough BP after treatment to be

kept for a while, and/or to be asked to drink a cranberry or apple juice cup

to bring the BP up.

Or else, it could be that they are simply being a little too ambitious in

the dry weight department.

What's her fluid intake at home in between treatments? If it's more than 2

litres, it can cause problems during treatment.

Sue,

I am so glad is there with you. My heart just positively aches for

how hard dialysis has been on her. Give her our love and let her know we are

praying for her.

Sue,

Thanks so much for taking the time to let us know about . I'm sorry

you guys had such a difficult week. I am very glad you are there for

and her son. The thought of the two of them going through this all alone by

themselves is painful. It sounds like the new doc is doing a thorough job.

Please give know we're all thinking about her.

Sue thank you for the update. has been on my mind a lot these past few

months. I do hope they are able to get things under better control for her

soon...or that her transplant comes thru soon. She has had such a rough time of

it all. Thank you so much for being there for her.

This has been a tough week, but should start looking up soon.

has thrown up so much this week that her muscles ache & she crashed

after dialysis Thursday, so they had to give her fluids before she

could go home. Thursday, she started using Phenergan ointment on her

wrists, to relieve nausea, with great results. Her appetite is back

in force & she feels much better. Her new Doc did several tests

yesterday (including blood cultures, gallbladder ultrasound, & UA) &

it turns out that she has a UTI. She starts antibiotics today &

should be feeling even better in a few days.
