I found that making dishes appear very similar to what they are used to and like is helpful, and there are some things all kids like - like ice cream pops (ie. yogurt pops), chicken nuggets, etc. Pecanbread has tons of recipes that are good for this - turn anything into a cupcake by baking it that way. It takes more of a mental adjustment for kids (young and older), so try to make almost anything into a treat.
