In January he was scoped and found to have an obstructive ulcer in the pyloric channel. He also seemed to vomit only at night. My son also was diagnosed with gastritis as well. Rather than guessing what might be going on would it make sense to do an endoscopy? >
Guest guest
Just curious - were the vomitting episodes frequent? Did he have any other symptoms? What was his treatment? Thanks for your feedback - Subject: Re: son wth CDTo: BTVC-SCD Date: Sunday, February 15, 2009, 1:13 PM >> I asked a question several days ago and I'd like to ask again with > more info to see if anyone can provide some help. Guest guest
Glad to hear it! I don't think my last batch of peaches got cooked long enough, and they were a little fibrous. Gave me terrible bloat all night! I sure could have used something like Pepto. I'll have to pick some up for future emergencies. Holly Crohn's SCD 12/01/08 > > > original pepto is legal??? Guest guest
sure could have used something like Pepto Hi! Here is what Elaine says. Pat Elaine writes: Peptobismol has been very helpful to many IBD suffers. I believe that the bismuth in the proper amounts works as an antimicrobial (yeast and/or bacteria). I always suggest to those suffering relapse, to talk their GP and ask about peptobismol. Need a job? Find an employment agency near you. Guest guest
I'm really happy to hear that Pepto Bismol is legal. A word of warning for parents of children 12 and under and the use of Pepto Bismol--the active ingredient is Bismuth subsalicylate--a derivative of Salicylic Acid or Aspirin. Aspirin compounds are not given to children under 12 if they have flu-like or and viral symptoms as they can get a very rare condition called Reye's Syndrome. Please be sure the tummy ache you are treating is food caused and not related to a possible virus. To be on the safe side--please check with your pediatrician before administering Pepto-Bismol to a child. The same goes for Alka-Seltzer, though I do not think it is legal--but for the non-SCD kids. Before I was a dentist, I was a pharmacist in my 'first' life. Terry Re: Re: son wth CD > original pepto is legal??? Guest guest
D & C Red #22 and #28--food dyes that are not sugars--have no idea about their legality. Obviously Elaine was not concerned about them. Good thinking, though.
