I am going to address the meds with the Pain Doctor when I go back in the end of August. I feel that I better take a more proactive role with all this medication. I am getting sick of taking it for one thing - its so expensive, even with insurance paying their part right not.

I need to get some rest. The new med is not keeping me awake and I can't tell a difference. Have you heard of taking B-12 shots for energy? My 96 year old RN insists that would help me and also the leg/nerve pain. Maybe I should listen to her. Since she's been treating her siactica for 40 or more years with success. She lives in stown, PA and sent me a vile of B-12 and sureges. (however there spelled) What do you think?

Love,

Deb

Deb,

What a good idea. It's wonderful to have a place to go where you can simply just be, filled with all the things you enjoy. Sounds like a perfect haven.

The neurontin may make you sleepy, however, there are alternatives to that which may work just as well (topomax, zanaflex, etc.) that may not make you as tired.

Have they checked your for Fibro and/or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? It does not sound like "just RSD" to me, as it came on rather suddenly, didn't it? That is usually the Drs way of saying "I don't know". Although you may not be anemic, there could be other things going on.... did they test blood sugars, etc?

Don't give up trying to find an answer.

Hugs,

Jo

Hi Deb,

I am one of those who truly believes that anything we can do to help ourselves, especially if it is with "natural" methods should be considered.

A shot of B-12 is a great thing. However, you can get too much of some B vitamins, so be sure to only take it as recommended.

There are a lot of websites with "natural" remedies that you may want to look for, or if you want, I can do some searching for you.

I know that my local health food store has a wonderful website. If you have a good health food store (not a GNC, etc.) you may want to talk to the owner. They are filled with knowledge on the different types of holistic remedies.

Hugs,

Jo

Deb,

Did you know that A Needle can make the RSD Spread?

Yup. Some in this group actually had their RSD start because of a Needle.....either by having blood drawn, or by having a shot of something, like a flu shot given to them.

I had the RSD spread into my left shoulder and arm during my C-section with Petey, but it stayed calmed down until this Feb when I committed myself....a whole year. That was when the lab came into my room, and drew blood out of my left arm while I was asleep.....I woke up immediately because my arm started burning, along with the stabbing pain shooting from my elbow to my shoulder and to my hand.....

because of them drawing the blood, what stayed calm, came alive with a vengence! all because they needed some blood.

So, even if you are experienced with giving yourself shots, you can still make the RSD Spread.

It's up to you now whether you really want to take that chance or not. There is No Proof that B-12 will make RSD any better or not. Deb G and I have tried it ourselves.....and we really didn't see any differences.

Hello Tonia

I think that is how my RSD spread, when the pain doc need that nerve blocker shot, not only the needle, but where he did the shot, cause ever since the shot my back has me killing me ( right where he put the needle in, and it has been 3 weeks now ). I did what my SSI work said to do, I stalled on my appoinment for another shot, waiting to see this new nero doc, see what he says to do.
