Guest guest
Hi Debra, What an uplifting post. It is interesting that most of use were the " rock " of our family before fibro snuck up behind us and grabbed us away from our lives. It seems everyone of us has a story of all the multitude of things we all did before. Our lives are divided into before F and after F. I know it is true in my life and is in most of the lives of the people here. We may have been compassionate before, but living with a chronic disease, particularly an invisible one, changes you. I don't see how anyone living this way could not be compassionate to those with their own problems. It also helps us to remember that everyone is dealing with something, whether you can see it or not. Back when I received my dx, there was a lot of stuff in the papers about fibromyalgia being a yuppie disease or Epstein Barr. They also said that it mainly struck Type A personalities and extremely active people. I don't know about all of that, but it definitely seems to be true about the extremely active people. I don't think I have ever had a Type A personality, but I was ambitious. I could go on and on doing what needed to be done without even noticing it. I also had a thought about what type of people could actually live with this dread disease, being in such pain but carrying on in whatever limited degree we can. It changes our lives significantly, but we don't let it completely overtake us, most of the time. It takes a strong person to do what we do and still have compassion for others. None of the weaklings that some people think we are could ever deal with this stuff. Just my thoughts added in agreement with yours, Marti debra van ness wrote: Hi all, I was just sitting reading these posts this morning. A thought came to me. One thing that fibro did give us all was compassion for others. What an outpouring of love for one another we have here. Or maybe we all were just compassionate people even before the fibro tore us up. It seems to me we all have a few things in common as human beings. Number 1--- we care very much about people in general and have really big hearts... and Number 2- most of us seem to have been the solid rocks of our families before the fibro beast invaded us. People who don't believe us should look at what kind of people we are. It seems to me that alot of us have been hard workers and have put so much into helping others before the fibro moved in. This certainly does not classify us as a bunch of lazy lying lunatics. So many of you have been so achieving in life and some have worked their tails off for years. Just a thought about the people that fibro steals from. love and hugs, Debra V. --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now. Guest guest
You know Debra... I look forward to your posts. I honestly do. You always come up with points that make me stop and think " You know... maybe I am not screwed up. " when people treat me like I am because of the fibro. I think we all get treated like an imposition of a failure occasionally by people who dont understand, but sometimes being reminded that we are actually doing the best we can, and a d*mned good job of it at that, is a breath of fresh air. Thanks :-) > > Hi all, > I was just sitting reading these posts this morning. A thought came to me. One thing that fibro did give us all was compassion for others. Guest guest
Thanks Marti. How right you are. It almost seems to me that we have all been such givers, our bodies just decided to start shutting down one day. I look back in perspective and remember how nursing school stressed me continuously. There was no time for sleep, rest or anything during that period in my life. It really was during nursing school that the fibro started and got worse after I started working the very stressful jobs I have had. (of course back then I had no idea I was sick with anything.... just made excuses and thought I was just tired). love and hugs, Debra V. Marti Boguski wrote: Hi Debra, What an uplifting post. Guest guest
So welcome Suzanne. We just happen to be a pretty good bunch of people. Who knows, maybe fibro likes to prey upon kind hearts, hard workers, and givers. love and hugs, Debra V. Suzanne wrote: You know Debra... I look forward to your posts. I honestly do.
