Could you remember perhaps in more detail where the pain/discomfort

from minocyclin was located in your experience?

My problem is I've had a weird colon in the past couple of years, so

I'm not sure if it's that acting up b/c of the meds or perhaps

something else entirely...

I'm also on plaquenil and I've found that to not be super easy on my

gut either...

i was having weird pain in my abdomen and since doing a liver flush 10

days ago they are gone!! you might want to try a colon cleanse and a

liver cleanse. i can point you to instructions if you want.

Just to give you a heads up. All health problems start in the stomach. You

could have your mycos there and that's why the upset.

You could also try aloe vera gel and glutamine. I do this to keep away leaky

gut (yes this is a real thingie). There is a lot about leaky gut on google.

Also I hope you are on a very good probiotic. All this in addition to

eating with your minocin.

Have you read all the histories oF people who have been here and are well?

Have you read Doc Browns book? We love answering questions but these are

some things you could read for more info about AP. So many people do not

even know about the book and our web site that's why I ask.

Cooky,

Thanks for the suggestions I aloe vera gel and glutamine. I have

some very good glutamine that I used to take regularly when I was

weight training often (before the RA) but I'll admit I am not regular

at all in taking it. I will try to step it up.

As far as the probiotic, I am taking one but I have no clue as to

what constitutes a good pro biotic.

Here is a link to the one I am taking

http://www.nutritionnow.com/PB8.htm

It says it has 14 billion CFUs per 2 tablets. I try to take 2 a day

w/ food.

I am reading The New Arthritis Breakthrough and am nearly done.

Which is how I heard about AP and then found this site.

I have not read the histories section though, perhaps I should per

your suggestion for tips. Also, I do take all my meds with food in

an attempt to get this pain/discomfort under control.

Hi, the safest way to know that you are taking the same Minocin all the time is

to get the brand name Minocin from Triax.  It is the pelleted one in the tiny

green & yellow capsule.  I've been on it for 3 years and I only get discomfort

if I make a pig of myself like at a buffet or eat something very greasy that

does not agree with me.  For times like that, I take 30mg of prevacin and within

a short time, I am doing fine again.  I used to take probiotics.  I still have

some in the fridge, but it has been a long time since I have needed to use

them. See if the doc will give you a prescription for Prevacid or Protonix or

somthing similar.  and like the previous writer, it just may be a herx that you

are going thru and, if so, that is a good thing as it means the micoplasmas are

fighting back, dying and emitting a toxic as they weaken.  That is the whole

purpose for taking the antibiotic in the first place.  Hope this suggestion

helps a bit.  You

can call the doc for one of the stomach pills and he can call the pharmacy of

your choice and go pick up the medicine.  Some pharmacies deliver.  I use a mail

order one.  I like that because I don't have to always be home.  I can travel

and have it sent to the nearest post office of where I am at.  Dolores & Mike

I DON'T MEAN TO MISLEAD YOU. THESE MAY NOT MAKE YOUR BELLY FEEL BETTER BUT

IT'S WORTH A TRY.

It says it has 14 billion CFUs per 2 tablets. I try to take 2 a day

w/ food. SOUNDS GOOD TO ME. MAYBE SOME WHO KNOW MORE WILL HELP OUT HERE. I

JUST TAKE DIFFERENT ONES AND HOPE THEY WORK. :-))

I am reading The New Arthritis Breakthrough and am nearly done.

WELL THAT'S ALL I CAN RECOMMEND EXCEPT LIKE SOMEONE ELSE SAID IT MAY TAKE A

WHILE FOR TUMMY TO GET USED TO IT. I WOULD TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT IF THIS

STILL GOES ON MORE THAN 2 TO 3 WEEKS. AS I SAID BEFORE DOXY IS BAD ON THE

TUMMY BUT A LOT OF PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT (I AM ONE WHO DOES).

IT ALSO MAY BE THE TYPE OF MINOCYCLINE. SOME OF THE FILLERS MAY BE THE

PROBLEM. THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT MFG OF MINOCYCLINE (THIS IS THE GENERIC OF

MINOCIN) AND EACH OF THEM DO DIFFERENT THINGS TO THEIR PRODUCT. HOW BIG IS

YOUR PRESCRIPTION? MAYBE WHEN YOU REFILL IT YOU COULD EITHER GET MINOCIN OR

ASK FOR A DIFFERENT MFG BRAND OF MINOCYCLINE. NOW UNDERSTAND SOME GENERIC

BRANDS DO NOT WORK VERY WELL FOR SOME PEOPLE AND HAROLD HAS A WEB SITE THAT

HAS HOW MANY PEOPLE DO WELL ON EACH OF THE GENERICS AS REPORTED TO HIM.

BY THE WAY ANYONE READING THIS.IF YOU TAKE A GENERIC MINOCIN AND HAVE NOT

LET HAROLD KNOW YOUR MFG AND HOW IT IS WORKING FOR YOU .PLEASE DO!!

Good luck .
