Guest guest
Greetings Ann->MN! You wondered: > I need to know how .... " in the heat it made > things very uncomfortable " ..... I want to be aware > of what Mother is going through. That way I can be > on top of the situation when Mother is not feeling > well and doesn't know what's wrong. No mater what > the cause, when she gets to feeling very bad... it > seems to be an all over feeling. YES! And it's AWFUL. You might be able to ask the twenty questions. But realize it is very overwhelming. There is a difference between the feeling awful and feeling overheated .. but not much. Here's some pointers for heatstroke: http://www.runnersworld.com/injuries/htstroke.html Or http://www.aomc.org/HOD2/general/Perssafe-HEAT-2.html Which has the following symptom list: Symptoms of Heat Stroke When the body overheats, it can go into crisis. Usually we sweat when we're hot, but when someone has heat stroke, there is no sweat, and the skin is very dry and hot. Other symptoms include strong, fast pulse, very high temperature (106deg.--112deg.F), and confused, strange, or angry behavior. The person may feel chilled, nauseated, or dizzy, and soon becomes unconscious. Remember, since someone with MSA may have problems sweating, keep a CLOSE eye on how warm they feel. At early stages, we should self monitor. For example, when I work outside, if I start to feel faint or weak or nauseated, then I QUICKLY head indoors under a fan with a cool drink (or two). Sometimes that actually triggers sweating. Often not. But right now lack of sweat isn't constant. It started several weeks ago. But it appears to be fading out again. However, the awful all over feeling for me is not quite that. Instead it is VERY hard to describe. Gosh I wish I could describe it! Let me try, but understand it will fall very short .. : Extreme Exhaustion / Fatigue -- When using the tv channel changer is too much work, you know you're not feeling upto much today. Tingling -- Often reported by many members, it's bad enough when it's just hands and feet. But when it's bad, I feel very much like a very crowded pin cushion. Vertigo -- Imagine riding a roller coaster .. all day long .. for a week or two. Prior to all this I was never nauseous when traveling. Now I can hardly stand it !! And just imagine the act of standing! Took me several minutes yesterday .. but I did NOT want my wife to help. ( " Stubborn " seems to be another common trait! ;-) " Just Not Right " Feeling -- It's similar to the feeling before a bad cold / flu hits. But stronger. Now put them all together. When it hits I can hardly sort it all out, let alone interact with others. I don't mean to whine. All any of us can do is act and react to the situation. I try to be positive and not make it completely clear how I feel (though it's pretty clear my wife understands). Hope that helps. Regards, =jbf= B.
