Guest guest
Hi , Huzzah!!!! Losing that dreaded 10% is a huge accomplishment. I am very happy for you. How disappointing that they are scheduling so far out. At my last post-op class, Beth mentioned that there are now over 1500 people in the Kaiser Richmond program. Anyway . . . those 3 months will be gone before you know it. Just use the time to get really ready for the surgery. I strongly recommend deep breathing exercises - you want your lungs to be in the best shape you can manage. Exercise, in general, will also help. I also used my pre-surgery time to make sure that my affairs were in order, so to speak. It is a subject we don't like to talk about - but I did want to make sure things were going to be taken care of if anything went wrong. For me, that included making sure that my husband was up to speed on our finances (he's a sweetie, but hasn't a clue about our investments and so on). I also went into a sort of " nesting " phase - and I have talked to several others who did the same. I cleaned out closets and the pantry and so on - getting ready for the birth of the new me, I guess. It is totally cool that your surgery is going to be on your birthday. I wanted to do that - but I wasn't about to turn down a surgery date that was a few weeks earlier. ;-) I'm really proud of you for getting over that 10% hurdle. That is one of the toughest hurdles on this path, in my opinion at least. Guest guest
Hi , I also have had to wait quite a while for surugery at Richmond. I really don't mind the wait, but I do worry about keeping the weight off during this time. It has been easier than I thought it would though. Congratulations on getting your date scheduled. My surgery is June 28th, lap with Dr. Baggs. You have helpedme get through the rough patch I went through struggling to lose my10%. With your words of encouragement I am proud to say I DID IT!I saw my case manager on Wednesday and had a second consult with thesurgeon today. So, I am ready to go. I want the surgery Now. But,they are scheduling at the END OF AUGUST. Oh, the disappointment! It certainly took the wind out of my sails today. I was floating on air, I was thrilled with my accomplishment and I thought I would be rewarded (I guess I expected that old instant gratification thing)with a surgery date perhaps in a few weeks to a month or so, but 3 months. They offered me August 30th. August 30th is my birthday so I thought, well, in getting this surgery, I will be getting a new life, so isn't it appropriate to get 'REBORN" through WLS on that day? By the way, I am assigned to Richmond. It seems they are quite busy these days.
Guest guest
Hi Carol I know exactly the emotions you are going through. I cried for days on end thinking my surgery date would never get here. Everyone told me it would, but I only half listened. I waited almost a year. Try to keep your spirits up and look to us to carry you through. You can do this and it will come. Congrats on the 10%...I know its not easy...way to go Huggles
