Hi, first of all, congrats on getting some 'real' pain meds. The first time(s) I

took narcotic pain relievers I threw up a LOT!! Finally my doctor suggested

cutting them in half, and instead of taking one every 6 hours, take a half every

3 hours. I think they were the oxycodone with aspirin, (Percodan) anyway, they

were for my migraines. It took a long time for my body to adjust to them. Once

I had adjusted I never threw up again from them, even if I went months in

between prescriptions. Oh, for those days...a small prescription would last for

months. The migraines were the only severe pain I had. Now I'm taking one 10 mg

oxycontin 2X a day, plus 5mg oxycodone for break-through pain. Even at that I

still don't get down much below a 5 in pain level. A wonderful day for me is a

4!!! I can ignore that for hours!! Only, THINKING about exactly what level I'm

at makes it hurt worse. Now, I just know when I'm cringing it's time for a pill,

if I'm not, just don't think about it. Anyway, I never throw up from pain meds

any more. I also find coffee along with my meds make them more effective, and

when I really hurt, I add in a couple of Excedrin. The pain meds I take don't

have any added tylenol or aspirin,(in other words, they're NOT percodans or

percocets) It can be more dangerous to take the percodans or percocets, cos you

will be taking too much aspirin or tylenol if you have to take an extra tablet.

So...I do hope they work for you, but I must say he's being very stingy

prescribing them. Still, it's a start. My doctor prescribes 60 of the oxycontin

and 200 of the oxycodone each month. I know I won't come near to using all of

the oxycodones, but that one prescription will probably last me at LEAST 2

months or longer now that I have the oxycontin. However, at least I won't run

out. I can stash some away for a 'rainy day'. I know he will be 'proud' of me if

I don't have to refill the oxycodone next month!! Can you get the refill in 15

days or not till next month? In AZ it's against the law to write refills on

narcotics, or any drugs in that class. Even my 'pep pills' have to be re-written

each month. My Klonopin, however, don't. My psych doctor usually writes 6

refills each time, I don't know how they work things here. I would think the

Klonopin would be the same 'class' of drugs. It's not cos it's a psych refill,

cos she's the one who writes the ADD script too. Who knows? I do know that part

of the pharm laws are federal, and then the state can add even more restrictions

if they want. Keep me posted as to how they are working for you.

Peace and Love
