Hi everyone,

Every year for my birthday i have had the same birthday cake-- my

favorite one in the world. I was diagnosed with Celiac about 5 months ago

and have been SCD for 3 weeks. I love chocolate and rich desserts. Does

anyone have any ideas for a replacement cake/ brownies? I have seen some

recipes on pecan bread, but i was wondering if anyone had a favorite as

its going to be kind of depressing not to have my favorite cake in the

world.

is said to be very chocolate-y tasting. I also make a cherry-pecan cake

which is pretty darned good. Especially when served with half & half

drained yogurt with honey and vanilla for a topping.

Hi all, which is the butter SCD required?

Buttermilk is illegal, isn't it?

Is there butter made with milk that SCD permitted?

Thank you.

Butter is OK to use on SCD, just make sure it doesnt have additives (pure

butter-- no coloring or margarin).

Buttermilk is not SDC. If youre trying to replicate buttermilk, maybe use the

yogurt with some vinegar. When I was vegan I did it with soymilk to replicate

butter milk and it worked great.

I found that as far as taste went, SCD goat yogurt, with its thinner

texture, makes an excellent substitute for buttermilk.

Yes those are fine as long as you notice no reaction to them. Aged

cbeese are good on

SCD because they have less lactose present.

Cheeses must be aged for at least a month on SCD so no soft " cream "

cheeses or feta

or mozzarella or ricotta is permitted.

The DCC cheese is " farmers cheese " they have it at whole foods and wild oats. As

for other cheeses, try one at a time-- and there is a list in the back of the

book that says certain ones may be used " freely " start with those. I started

with swiss.
