I mean you get a shot, which is very painful in the first place, and it only takes the pain away for a little while. Why then do we have to have them done? I am having a hard time understanding this one. I dont quite grasp the concept myself Kenny, but my understanding is that each injection is supposed to last a little longer and hopefully by the end of the series have accomplished its goal by either putting the RSD at bay for awhile or in some cases putting it into remission. Guest guest Posted August 9, 2004 Report Share Posted August 9, 2004 Kenny, When I was going out to Chicago for my blocks, I was told that if you could get them every week, then the medicine would build up in your system, and each time, it would last longer, giving you longer relief. The doctor I have now, he believes that if you can get a block done in one limb each month, it will retrain the nerve somehow. But, I'm thinking that is for only those that has been diagnosed and has had RSD less than 2 years, where I'm going on 4 years, it's not working for me at all. I'm going to talk to him about the 5 day epidural drip and see if he'll go for it... But, for some people, the Blocks have put them into Remission. it just all depends on the person. Blocks, meds, Doctors, Treatments........ Everything is different for every person. What works for one person, doesn't work for another. Guest guest Posted August 10, 2004 Report Share Posted August 10, 2004 Hello Tonia Thanks for writing back,the problem I am having with the shots is, first of all they are very painful to get and then I got only two days relief, then I guess I got a bad reaction from it, because all HELL let go. I have never been in so much pain since I was first told I had RSD. I have a lot of fear about doing it again, like what if it spreads even more, up my hips into my back, ( I am already having a lot of pain in my back, not sire if it from RSD or not ), and I am having a hard time grtting the docs to talk to me, ( on my level, that is ), hopefully, after I talk to the pain doc on 8-11, I will know more, will keep the group informed.
