Guest guest
Wow Chanda, I have never heard of that happening before. How can they approve you and then turn around and take it back? Keep at it and don't give up. It is too bad you have to go through so much just so that you can be healthy. Good luck on your appeal. Guest guest
Chanda you described this perfectly UNBELIEVEABE...............i just dont get this..................i hope it clears up soon for you best of thoughts your way Colleentballmom1229 wrote: As some of you might recall, several nights ago I posted a message stating I had received an APPROVAL letter from Kaiser for a gastric bypass (this letter came by mail on Friday 5/28). Unbelievably, last night I received another letter from Kaiser stating I had been DENIED. Since I have been going thru the appeals process, I called my appeals case worker in Oakland and she has no clue how I received an approval letter. She says they will investigate it and get back to me. But as far as they are concerned, I am DENIED. (The approval letter is dated one day before the denial letter and the post marks are two days apart.) I am so upset right now. This is worse than when I was denied the first time. It's like having something so wonderful given to you and then snatched back. Since Saturday afternoon, I have believed I was FINALLY going to get this surgery. Anyway, I have already begun the appeals process with the DMHC but it's still so frustrating. I have been fighting with Kaiser on this for almost ONE year. ly, I believe they should honor the approval letter since they sent it out first but, unfortunately, things don't work that easily. Anyway, I just wanted to vent and share a little. Thanks for listening. ChandaColleen
Guest guest
Chanda I am so sorry you are having to go through this tremendous ordeal. I know how much of a rollercoaster of emotions this journey is even if everything goes smoothly, so I can imagine the emotional turmoil this has all caused you. If there is anyway I can help, just let me know.
Guest guest
Hi Chanda, That is so wrong!!! It is difficult enough to deal with being denied, but to have them get your hopes up and then dash them is just WRONG! Talk about the Grinch stealing Christmas. I'm glad to hear that you've already started the process of appealing through the DMHC. Please, let us know how things proceed there. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Take care, Kay open RNY 12/1/03 tballmom1229 wrote: As some of you might recall, several nights ago I posted a message stating I had received an APPROVAL letter from Kaiser for a gastric bypass (this letter came by mail on Friday 5/28). Guest guest
Chanda, Getting the Approval Letter will only help your case with the DMHC. Don't worry--you will be approved. Laurie W. UNBELIEVABLE! Guest guest
Chandra, I'm a little late read emails, but you are right. This is unbelievable! Keep pushing, I know you will be approved, it just may take a little more time and more of a fight. Guest guest
Chanda, At this point, I can understand your frustration. And it seems cruel for them to send out an acceptance letter and then a rejection-- causes unnecessary suffering. You should definitely tell the DMHC what happened (fax them copies, maybe) and ask them whether you should consult an attorney about this. Guest guest
Chanda: This really is beyond UNBELIEVABLE! Thanks for sharing with the group. You have all of our support, and it appears from their mess up that you have a great case for being approved. Just remember that while this may be a struggle that's difficult to face (and entirely unnecessary!), you are worth every effort. We're behind you all the way.
