Guest guest
Aiazeen, First of all, I'm glad you have an SCD counselor who can work with you individually on this. You might want to look at the weather in his or her area -- if it's bad, the phone service may be down. It is, unsurprisingly, scary when you reach out for assistance, and your life-line is unavailable. OK, let me see if I have this straight.... You went off the Asacol in October. In December, you began a flare, but continued tapering your prednisone? I'm sorry that you are in a difficult situation -- have you gone back to more digestible foods? Wait, I see that you have. Sorry -- I reading and writing too quickly. How much of those foods are you eating? Have you calculated the calories you are taking in? I know that it can be awfully hard to keep eating and eating when you feel dreadful and have no appetite. But if you aren't taking in enough calories a day, you will continue to loose, and that's a definite matter for concern. I agree with your counselor to hold off on supplements, and to go with bone broth for your calcium. Are you yet able to do DCCC or the SCD yogurt? That can be helpful for calcium, as well. You might look into pureeing meats and veggies into bone broth and drinking it to add more calories. How are you on the healthy fats like butter? That, too, can add calories. Maybe someone else will have some other suggestions. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
