Guest guest
Dear Jane, I thought I would let you know that I'm reading your emails but I have never used the protein supplement you asked about and have no clue how it will do for you. I've never had a problem with chicken and can eat beef also. I also use no-fat cottage cheese to get protein. Good luck and Hugs, Bev

Guest guest
Hi Laurie, Please remember that there protocol and food are different from what Kaiser tells us to eat and what PB tells you to eat. We can only let you know what has happened to us from our own experiences. I can honestly say that once I started eating Carbs again I have a very horrendous appetite that is at times drives me to distraction. The worst is that because I am a Carb Addict I am having a very had time going back to eating little carbs. Right now I am dealing with some weight gain. my weight has gone up in 3 months 10 pounds and I am having a very hard time getting things under control. So just be careful with what you start to do. As Martha says we do have to be honest with ourselves and think about what we put in our mouths. The Key to Success is PROTEIN, PROTEIN, PROTEIN And then if there is a bit of room some fruit or vegetables. Ramona

I am not strict enough with head hunger verses stomach hunger. But I am working on it. I'm not gaining but not loosing fast enough to suit me I still need to loose another 100 lbs. to be at my goal. So far I have lost 125 lbs. since my journey in this program. It does get harder the longer your out. Stay away from those carbs. protein, protein, protein. is the best deal. Good luck, Reven P.O. I was wondering today about whether I will be 'mouth hungry' after only eating an oz. because I was full but my mouth wanted more. I am pre-op so I am trying to figure out strategies for potential issues. How do you deal with this issue? My husband suggested gum. Guest guest
Hi Laurel, I am 1 year and 5 months since surgery, What I have noticed is that when I eat something that has a lot of carbs then I feel hungry sooner than I should is what happens. I still get full on a little food. it really depends on what I am eating. I do try to stay away from carbs for that reason. I don't recommend gum because that will stimulate your stomach acids that will make you feel hungry sooner. I have only chewed 2 pieces of gum since surgery and that was to get an awful taste out of my mouth and brushing wasn't an option at the time. As you get out further from the day you had surgery it is normal that you are able to eat a bit more than the 2 oz. in the beginning. I can now eat about 3/4 of a cup at a meal. I still eat off a salad plate because a normal size plate is just way too big. My best suggestion is to plan your meals. If most of your meal is protein and maybe a bit of fruit or vegetable you will be fine. Ramona
Guest guest
Laurel, I drink a lot of water until my stomach can't take anymore and I feel full. I went to the monthly meeting on Saturday and weighed in I wasn't going to be very happy but guess what with all my bad eating I still seemed to have lost 5 more lbs since last month. So now I'm happy again. I'm going to try jogging today at the park across the street from where I work today. I figure that way it's not to far from work for when I get tired. It's a SMALL park. Guest guest
Not to sure about the gum thing....I would be afraid I might accidently swallow it and I would think that would be a really bad thing...anyone have any thoughts on that? oh, and yes, I am having troubles with my head or mouth still being hungry but not being able to eat anything more...takes time I suppose. Guest guest
How long does it take before you can drink " a lot " of water. I always feel like I am thirsty and want to take big gulps of water but just cant, I get a fullness pain in the pouch...I am 3wks out. Guest guest
Hi Shanna, The big gulps of water are a thing of the past. You will eventually be able to drink a little faster. For now just be content with sipping your water. eventually the thirst will go away. Remember your tummy is only the size of your thumb right now. Guest guest
Hi Shanna, Gum is on Kaiser Richmond's no-no forever list - probably for just the reason you mentioned. Of course, I currently eat some things that are on that list. I've had a little (very little) rice and pasta, and I do have some spicy foods. Gum . . . I can skip that. All the best, Kay open RNY 12/1/03 skeaquinta wrote: > Not to sure about the gum thing....I would be afraid I might > accidently swallow it and I would think that would be a really bad > thing...anyone have any thoughts on that? > oh, and yes, I am having troubles with my head or mouth still being > hungry but not being able to eat anything more...takes time I > suppose. > Shanna

Guest guest
Thanks, I am still trying to figure out my new eating and drinking limits...its very strange. Whoever said this was the easy way out has NO IDEA! Shanna > Hi Shanna, > The big gulps of water are a thing of the past. You will eventually be able > to drink a little faster. Guest guest
For myself, and a friend of mine, we both dumped on cereal. We still dump on cereal and she is 16 months out and I'm 7 months out.
