, I don't know if they used lidocaine or what but I went to the doctors office this past Thursday and they sprayed my arm with some numbing agent and then stuck me with a needle in 2 different places that hit the ulna and radial nerve and yes it did work. It was wonderful until it wore off. I think it might have lasted me about a good 5 or 6 hours which was better than nothing I guess.

-- Lidocaine intravenous therapy

Hello, everyone. I am interested in some information about the Lidocaine intravenous therapy that is being given to help RSD. Has anyone out there received this treatment? any side effects? And did the lidocaine intravenous help the pain? Anyone with this information please respond.

,

I will be going in to the hospital hopefully this week for the IV treatment of Lidocaine and also Ketamine. I am told you can experience short term memory loss and hallucinations while you are receiving the meds, but once it is over you regain your memory - it has no lasting effect. There is little data on the success, how long it lasts, if it stops the RSD from spreading or just stops the pain, etc, but I have to try it as I don't have many other options. My RSD is full body so this way the meds will run all through my body and hopefully offer me some relief. They also keep you very closely monitored in the ICU - at least the specialist I'm seeing does - so you won't be "forgotten" by nurses on a regular floor. I will let you know how it works as soon as I am home again.
