Guest guest
JoAnn, We just had the pool put in, it was finished about 3 weeks ago. It is heated with solar panels, so it stays fairly warm (high 80s on a good day). I purchased a couple of books on Amazon that explained exercising in the water to help with various kinds of pain. Maybe you could try one of those. They have water exercise books for all types of things. I don't remember which books I purchased, as I am at work already this AM. I don't go in the pool if it is not warm enough. That does seem to hurt me more. I feel better when I do something. If I don't exercise at all, I feel very lethargic. Since it has been pretty cold for NJ, I haven't done much swimming in the past few days and I can tell the difference. My Dr. has told me that the best treatment for Fibro is exercise. It does hurt, but it hurts if I don't do anything. I cannot use "workout machines" any more, so it's either the pool or a walk. We also have the hot tub, which I will admit is the best money I have ever spent. I love the warmth, even without any jets (I stay away from the jets). Yes, I still cook. We have family dinners just about every Sunday. Its a good way to keep in touch with the kids, even though they live fairly locally, we don't see them daily. Some days, I just wind up in the kitchen most of the day, and wind up doing things I didn't anticipate. Last Sunday I made two different types of homemade ice cream (Fresh peach and Oreo Mint), macaroons for an elderly friend who loves them (her birthday is tomorrow); meatloaf for later in the week, a roast beef, twice baked potatoes, a tomato/mozzarella salad with tomatoes from my garden, fresh broccoli from the garden, etc. etc. We had key lime pie and a carrot cake with the ice cream for dessert. I had planned on putting a roast in the oven.... not anything else, but it just happened! My kitchen floor is extremely hard, so my legs still hurt! I try and stay busy. Some days are just better than others.... Amey and I both live in Northwestern New Jersey, on the PA border. She lives about 40 mins. South of me. I am near the Delaware Water Gap, she is near Easton, PA. It is very pretty in this area of NJ, nothing like you see on the Sopranos! We have mountains and woods, the Delaware River, wildlife, etc. Hugs, Jo
Guest guest
Jo, Hope you don't mind me butting in, but I just had to tell you. Your part of NJ sounds alot like where I live in PA! We also have mountains, woods, wildlife and also the Clarion River, which compared to the Deleware, it's probably more like a stream. lol It's very beautiful here, eapecially in the fall. The leaves turn into all of Gods' glorious colors and it is just so beautiful! We even have a wild Elk herd here (hence the name Elk County). And we have cyoete, bobcats and lots of deer and black bears! Your weather sounds the same too. It's been unseasonably cool here. It's been getting down right cold at night already. Not good for the rsd. I've really been hurting lately because of it. I haven't been swimming at all for the last two years. I don't know anyone with a heated pool or hot tub. Wish I were closer to you. I'd come over and go swimming with you! LOL And how on earth do you manage to do so much cooking in just one day!? I'm lucky that I get just a small meat and potatoe meal for supper done. I didn't mean to get so carried away, I'll let you go now. I just wanted to tell you about our neck of the woods being so much alike. Talk to you again sometime. Take care and God Bless. Guest guest
Faith, Yes, I'm certain that our areas are very alike. We are probably not that far apart.... and have the same weather patterns, etc. I love where I live, although we don't have elk... We do have a couple of hawks and eagles who live in the hills behind our home, red fox, etc. It is quite beautiful, and you're right, the leaves are the most spectacular sight in the fall. I have some wonderful pictures of the Delaware Water Gap in the fall.. they are gorgeous. So many colors. Hugs, Jo
