Guest guest
Hello family Kenny here, I called my pain doc., today he was out of town so I talked to his nurse, I told her that I would like to talk to the doc., about getting another nerve blocker shot ( that I am to get on 8-12 ), she said what about it, well I told her all the problems I have been having since I had the last one done, ( ® foot on fire, (L) foot hurting, pain in both lower legs, lower back pain, and spasms ect. none of which I had before the shot ), she told me that it could not have come from the shot, I asked her then where did it come from then, she had no respond to that, she said she would have the doc call me on 8-11. When he calls me, if he says the same thing to me, I will come unglued, after I tell him off, I will inform him that I will be finding a new pain doc, thank you very much, have a nice day. I can get over that nurse, where does she think all this pain came from ( the tooth fairy ). OK, I feel better now, hope everyone is doing OK, and having as little pain as possible. with luv and prays Kenny
Guest guest
Kenny Dont you just love how medical professionals seem to have all the answers and think you dont have clue. Sometimes all you want is verification that you arent alone in this battle and that someone before you has suffered similiar issues but instead they make you look like an idiot and treat you as inferior. Most answers sadly seem to come from the internet for me. I feel very alone suffering this monster without much in the way of professional answers. What I've learned has come mostly from here in this group and what I've managed to find online. Give your pain dr a chance as he may have answers for you, but if he gives you anything but reasonable answers deny him! You definetely have to do whats right for you my friend! Guest guest
Kenny, I haven't written to you before. But gotta say some nurse's can frustrate the hell out of ya. I should know I'm one of them not practicing any more. Good luck with the Doc. My only observation is that you may be having a flare.Where did you have your shot? I don't believe it should have caused all the symptoms you are having. Back to the human side Hang in there. Hope you get some answers with the doc. Guest guest
Hello, Laurie Hope you are doing OK today, thanks for writing back, I am so gratful you guys are here for me, it means a lot to me. The nerve blocker shot was done in my lower right back, and I had a mild case of RSD before that, I did get about two days of relief, then the back of my legs started to hurt real bad, my wife tried to rub them down with muscle rub, but it did no good. Then my right foot started to burn like it was on fire. I know I did nothing to kick this off, after the shot I came home and slept. I think I am going to have to find a new pain doc, I don't like him much any way. Well here's hoping you are having as little pain as possible. Guest guest
Thanks donna for writing back I agree with you 100%. This group is the greatest thing I have found on the internet in a long time. I have learned so much , and the feeling that I am not alone has been so helpful. Some days it is so hard just to hang in there, but this group and it's e-mails is just enough to keep me going. Guest guest
Kenny, It sounds like the doctor might have hit a nerve or muscle when he went in. Did he use a fluroscopy when he did the block? It's a large camera like an x-ray machine that shows him exactly where his needle would have been going inside you so that he would have hit the right nerve when he was inside. If he didn't use one, I'm betting that he hit the wrong area, making it easier for him to hit the wrong area, therefore, making the RSD spread. If he did use it, then, the extra pain could be caused from the block just not working, and the extra pain is from your body not liking it being invaded with the needles and stuff. BE CAREFUL though when you do talk to him!!!! You don't want to jump him over the phone, because you will need to keep him until you can find another doctor, and then need him to give you a good referral to the new doctor. But, if you jump him over the phone, you won't have a prayer in finding another doctor, because you have to have a referral to go to the new doctor. So, when you talk to him, remember: take deep breaths, count to 10, paste a smile on your face......and remember, you need him no matter what. Guest guest
hello there, yes he did use a fluroscopy, when he was doing it, it felt like the needle went all the way to my foot, hurt real bad, I DO NOT need him , I can and will get a new referal from my nero doc. I am not going to jump on him to much, all depends on what he says about all the problems I am having since last shot, my SSI worker told me that I should stall, ( like saying I was to sick to make appoinment, or having car trouble, ) just to give me time to see the nero doc, and get his opinion as to what to do next. I guess we will all see soon, before end of week. Will keep group informed. Guest guest
Kenny, I'm behind on e-mails but I just read what the nurse told you and can imagine how angry you felt. Did the doctor call you and what did he say about it? I hope that you got some answers. When it happened to me, my doctor didn't really admit any wrongdoing, but did say he did not think any additional blocks would be better for me and passed me on to the next doctor. We had scheduled another block but when my pain went on and on for weeks and then a month, he agreed that we should not do anymore. I hope that your doctor can at least be honest enough to help you make the best decision for you personally. I hope to read in a later e-mail how the conversation went with your doctor. Take care and I'll talk to you soon....hang in there. <hugs> Lori
Guest guest
Hi Lori Thanks for writing back, what I did was what my SSI case worker suggested, she told me to stall, till I see the new nero doc, so I had my wife call and say we were having car trouble, and reset the appointment. I am going to ask the nero doc for a new referal for a pain doc, if he wants me to still see a pain doc. I will keep the group informed on what happens, I see the new nero doc tommrow 8-13, till then.
