Guest guest
, let me tell you how I feel. My weight is dropping very fast (I'm about four months out). And my clothes sizes are dropping fast. But I've been fat all my life, and for the last coupla years, I've been too embarrassed to even go out of the house very much. Like most of us, I couldn't look in a mittor. It is STILL hard to look in a mirror, only because of the habit of NOT LOOKING... But when I look at my face, now getting thin, with changes around my eyes and mouth, I look and look at it. This is me? This is a NEW me... and I still have to get to know it. So the weight is dropping real fast, but I'm not seeing it at the same speed. I'm only getting to know myself little by little. I don't feel skinny yet, even though my body is changing so fast... I have to tell you that I ENJOY looking in the mirror at my face these days. It's older, a little battered, but I can smile at myself, look right in my owen eyes and say to mne, 'Boy, you are something! Look at what you have accomplished! Keep it up! " I like myself so much more now than I ever did. Cheers! Sharon in D.C. Re: Newbie I am also new to the group had my surgery done july of 2002 and have No trouble since then I am feeling super. THe concern I have is that people see such a big change and I feel it in the clothes I have bought but looking in a mirror i see myself still big. anyone else feel this?? Do i get over it or what???? Guest guest
, Welcome to the group!! I echo what Mitch said, that it's good to try to get it off now and get the better eating habits under control while you are younger. I've battled various amounts of weight throughout my life and it's not fun. While I was never really that much overweight in high school (probably would take that weight right now, lol...), I put it on in college and then working and took it off here and there with exercise. BUT, it got bad when I had kids and ate out of stress and I then was 57 over and took that off, then it got to 87 over and I reached lifetime in May 2001 but didn't hold it. GRRRRRRRR!!! SOOO, now here we go again for the final time. I've learned alot like Mitch and don't want to do the yo-yo thing again, so I've taken off 45 since the end of April and have about 25 to go to get to the no-pay zone at the meetings. Are you doing WW on your own or going to the meetings or what?? I'd recommend the meetings because you get that shot in the arm, don't know how to explain it. But if you are doing it on your own, I'd recommend really writing things down every day because that way you are more accountable to yourself. Let us know how things go... in Calif. Newbie Hey all I just started the weight watchers last week. I really need to get this weight off and I am excited about this diet. I am 21 yrs old and weigh 315. My goal weight is 220. Guest guest
Hi and welcome to the group. To answer your question about exercise for bad knees, I would suggest water aerobics. I started taking classes last summer and now teach them. Many of the people in my classes have issues such as bad knees, hips, backs, or are very overweight and can't do other forms of exercise. Some start out with water exercise and go on to include other forms of exercise after they get stronger. Good luck to you and happy to see you here Terri in Wisconsin PS I read a book recently written by a very overweight gentleman who, when he started his weight loss/exercise journey could do nothing more than tread water for 5 minutes to start out with. But he did it and pretty soon he was swimming laps and went on from there. > Hi! > > I'm a newbie too. I just joined WW online. I was debating between this or doing South Beach and I decided to go with WW. I think it would be too hard for me to give up the carbs. At least with WW you can have some. I'm 48 will be 49 next month. I do have a question. Does anybody have suggestions on exercise for someone with bad knees? Any suggestions are appreciated! > > Dana > > > Newbie > > > Hi Everyone! > I am new to this group. I was in WW a while back and lost about 25 > pounds, but quit and thought I could do it on my own. Guest guest
Hi Everyone, My name is Doris. I'm new to the group. I start my chemo tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone has any tips or advice for me. I'm a little scared. I will be part of a clinical trial. I will be receiving the dose-dense therapy with the drugs doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide every 14 days for 4 visits. Fourteen days after the last treatment I will begin paclitaxel every 14 days for 4 more visits. I have to give myself a shot after each chemo treatment and take steroid pills when I receive paclitaxel. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Doris in California
Guest guest
Doris, Welcome to the group. My chemo was almost 16 yrs ago so things have changed a bit. I do know the ladies say that you should chew on ice while getting chemo as it will help with mouth sores. My chemo was an IV push but a lot of ladies get the IV drip and it takes a few hours. If thats what yours is going to be take someone with you if you can to keep you company and drive you home if you are not up to it. If you crochet, knit do cross stitch take that or a book or magazine with. When you get home be sure to rest and take it easy. I am sure the other ladies will have some good hints. I will keep you in my prayers. Guest guest
Double-yes to everything Val said, and let me add: many of us here can't find docs to help. Finding a good doc is the first choice, but if there is not one to be found, self-treating is possible. > > hi i am a single working mum with RT3 - I don't have the numbers on me but my Rt3/T3 ratio was definately out. I also know i have adrenal fatigue but getting the docs to agree is virtually impossible. Cortisol 8am blood level of 120 (range should be 150min). I've been hypothyroid for at least 10 years. An on 200 of T4 4x per week and 100 3x/week and 5mcg SRT3 daily plus iron - my ferritin was down to 8, last one 58 min should be 60 i think. I am very fatigued, joint pain brain fog and lots of migraines my progesterone is low and eostrogen high (only by blood tests) I would love to do saliva tests but am broke at the moment) I know i need to get onto T3 but not sure how to go about it cause i need adrenal support but can't get any from docs. they suck. thyroid levels at last test were average level for t4 and t3 and TSH <0.5 > I'm at a loss at the moment on where to go? > sonny >
