Guest guest
Well I do have ruputured discs in my back, and the weight loss/shift does make that pretty bad some days. But over all I do feel better. I can walk up steps without my knees hurting. That is a huge plus. I have days I can hardly get out of bed, but that was before the surgery also. Guest guest
Debb - You probably do have fibromyalgia. You need to get on a regular medication routine. Something for better quality sleep at night, and something to manage your pain, along with an anti-depressant. NSAIDS are out for us now as post-ops, so I use Tylenol, and Vicodin, plus Flexeril helps, too. Hang in there. It will get better. Guest guest
Jen, I am so sorry to hear you are still struggling with this thing, in addition to not being told about the second fibroid. Argh. You are in my thoughts. Regarding your question about Advil, my doctor told mw that it was safe to take up to 2400 mg a day for " years " , without risking damage. You should certainly be safe taking it for a few more weeks if needed, but your own doctor/surgeon and nurse may have a different opinion than mine. I'm interested to hear what they tell you. Take care, Janet Now my > question is - how long can one take Advil (800mg)without it causing > damage to the kidney? It's my understanding that chronic use of > Advil can cause problems with the kidneys. But what does chronic use > mean? Days and days, weeks and weeks or months and months? Guest guest
I have about pain meds as well. I have been taking Aleve(220mg) for my pain. Should I also be worried about kidney damage as well. It seems that I take at least two Aleve a day to help me with my pain. Carol
Guest guest
You have more than kidneys to worry about. It can tear your stomach up. I was taking it for my back and it tore up my stomach and took a very long time to heal up. I was told they should have never gave me high doses of it, of course afterwards. Watch out for steroids. I never had problems with my periods until I took steroids for my back.
Guest guest
Hi JenD, I am worried about the exact same thing. I am 46 years old. I have had excessive bleeding and cramping for about 1 1/2 years now. I have been told that I have about 3-4 fibroids and an ovarian cyst. My nurse practitioner said that I need to see a physician now. I have made an appointment for Tuesday morning. I have been using birth control pills for the bleeding, but they don't seem to be helping all that much. They work for a while and then I start bleeding again. At first it is spotting and eventually it gets heavier and heavier. I have to wear overnight pads to work and I change those every two hours! Forget tampons! The cramping makes it difficult to do too much. I have been taking over the counter Advil and have been doing this for about two weeks. I too have the question about long term effects. I am going to ask my new doctor on Tuesday, so if I get an answer I will post then. I hope this helps. K

I don't have extra bleeding just a little heavier than normal when Im on my period. But..the pain keeps me in on most weekends being a total couch potatoe which is not in my nature. Work too is difficult with the bathrooms breaks. Everything I read in the group I can totally relate to except for the bleeding, and plus this week I've had a pretty good one so I took total advantage and finally cleaned my super messy house. I was hoping it might have went away!? Keeping my fingers crossed. Has anyone had this experiance. Total pain and then just gone? Any info appriecated. Guest guest
yes, I think a lot of people have experienced symptoms and then no symptoms. That sure happened to me over the past month. Difficulty urinating, pain around ovaries, couldn't sleep in any position where there was pressure around my lower belly, etc. About 4 days before I got my period, most of these symptoms started to alleviate, and once I actually got it, all of the symptoms went away. I expect they'll be back though. The bottom line is, it would seem this is normal. At least in my case (and others I've read) as your hormones fluctuate, the density of the fibroid(s) does too, so if you are having trouble with pressure-induced pain it can be really bad sometimes and non-existant other times...... a wrote:On Fri, 28 Mar 2003 08:09:11 -0800 (PST)kukalaka wrote: >Has anyone had this experiance. Guest guest
Yes, I also have the same experience. In January of this year I started having extreme pressure on my abdomen where I couldn't sleep; it felt like I was pregnant. Then the bladder issues and constipation. Now that they have determined it is my fibroids again and I'm scheduled for a hyst, the pelvic pressure has subsided a great deal. But I still have bladder issues, so I know that it is the right thing to deal with this, especially since I got the scare of hydronephrosis (fluid in kidneys) because my bladder can't empty all the way. So, even though the constant pressure is gone now, I know it can come back at any time. Also, when I have to go to the bathroom and can't, I know it's the fibroids and am thankful that it will be taken care of soon.
