Well I do have ruputured discs in my back, and the weight loss/shift does

make that pretty bad some days. But over all I do feel better. I can

walk up steps without my knees hurting. That is a huge plus. I have

days I can hardly get out of bed, but that was before the surgery also.

I see a chiropractor regularly.

All that weight is hanging on a normal sized skeleton as you lose

weight the skeleton gets out of alignment,,much like a car. It works

for me so at least check it out. I used to see one even befor I had

the surgery.

Debb - You probably do have fibromyalgia. You need to get on a regular

medication routine. Something for better quality sleep at night, and

something to manage your pain, along with an anti-depressant. NSAIDS are

out for us now as post-ops, so I use Tylenol, and Vicodin, plus Flexeril

helps, too. Hang in there. It will get better.

Janet they tell me it is because of the fat moving from around the tailbone

and stuff shifting thus losing a lot of your padding and also that as

morbidly obese people we tend to sit on one cheek or the other and as we

lose we start to sit on our butt

Jen,

I am so sorry to hear you are still struggling with this thing, in

addition to not being told about the second fibroid. Argh. You are

in my thoughts. Regarding your question about Advil, my doctor told

mw that it was safe to take up to 2400 mg a day for " years " , without

risking damage. You should certainly be safe taking it for a few

more weeks if needed, but your own doctor/surgeon and nurse may have

a different opinion than mine. I'm interested to hear what they tell

you.

Take care,

Janet

Now my

> question is - how long can one take Advil (800mg)without it causing

use

I have about pain meds as well. I have been taking Aleve(220mg) for my

pain. Should I also be worried about kidney damage as well. It seems

that I take at least two Aleve a day to help me with my pain. Carol

You have more than kidneys to worry about. It can tear your stomach up. I was

taking it for my back and it tore up my stomach and took a very long time to

heal up. I was told they should have never gave me high doses of it, of course

afterwards.

Watch out for steroids. I never had problems with my periods until I took

steroids for my back.

Hi JenD,

I am worried about the exact same thing. I am 46 years old. I have had

excessive bleeding and cramping for about 1 1/2 years now. I have been told

that I have about 3-4 fibroids and an ovarian cyst. My nurse practitioner

said that I need to see a physician now. I have made an appointment for

Tuesday morning.

I have been using birth control pills for the bleeding, but they don't seem

to be helping all that much. They work for a while and then I start bleeding

again. At first it is spotting and eventually it gets heavier and heavier. I

have to wear overnight pads to work and I change those every two hours!

Forget tampons!

The cramping makes it difficult to do too much. I have been taking over the

counter Advil and have been doing this for about two weeks. I too have the

question about long term effects. I am going to ask my new doctor on Tuesday,

so if I get an answer I will post then.

I hope this helps.

Yes to pain and your GYN should give you something. Ask.

yes, I think a lot of people have experienced symptoms and then no symptoms.

That sure happened to me over the past month. Difficulty urinating, pain around

ovaries, couldn't sleep in any position where there was pressure around my lower

belly, etc. About 4 days before I got my period, most of these symptoms started

to alleviate, and once I actually got it, all of the symptoms went away. I

expect they'll be back though. The bottom line is, it would seem this is

normal. At least in my case (and others I've read) as your hormones fluctuate,

the density of the fibroid(s) does too, so if you are having trouble with

pressure-induced pain it can be really bad sometimes and non-existant other

times......

Yes, I also have the same experience. In January of this year I

started having extreme pressure on my abdomen where I couldn't sleep;

it felt like I was pregnant. Then the bladder issues and

constipation.

Now that they have determined it is my fibroids again and I'm

scheduled for a hyst, the pelvic pressure has subsided a great deal.

But I still have bladder issues, so I know that it is the right thing

to deal with this, especially since I got the scare of hydronephrosis

(fluid in kidneys) because my bladder can't empty all the way.

So, even though the constant pressure is gone now, I know it can come

back at any time. Also, when I have to go to the bathroom and can't,

I know it's the fibroids and am thankful that it will be taken care

of soon.
