Guest guest
For me, it's Jimmy Buffett. I never listened to him until just a couple years ago. His music is very relaxing to me. My husband saw a special on tv about him, and it said that many surgeons listen to Jimmy Buffett while doing surgery because it's so relaxing. I always thought he was really wild, so never bothered to listen to any of it until recently. nancie Dave and Jeanne wrote: Don't want to get into a big debate, but I love the new country that has been around since the 90's or so. To me, it is more like the music I grew up with called pop or rock in the 70's and early 80's. Just my thoughts. Guest guest
I absolutely love country music but only the country music from the last decade or so...can't stand the OLD country music.???? thats all I primarily listen to besides some 80's music.? Ken from Philly Re: OT - country music I still enjoy it! It's a growing church, they it currently has no heater. Not normally a problem but this Sunday morning should be in the twenties, so I hope they have plenty of space heaters. They did approve to have a heater installed and were getting the ball rolling on that, not sure how long that will take. I do love this church, it's so not like all the other churches I just felt I didn't belong. Marti Boguski wrote: > Hi Melody and Jeanne, > I like country music too. Guest guest
I grew up with going to bed at night listening to my dads bands practice in the basement of our house. He was always in a band either rock and roll or country. Then my sister started to play so I had to listen to Color My World forever until she learned something new and that was Stairway To Heaven, then my littlest brother got into music. Now my boys are in their own bands. All are very talented. My other brother and I did not participate till later on when we all decided to have a Family Christian Band and I sang a bit. My husband was also very musically inclined from the time he was younger and in homes. I agree even with growing up with the older country music I definitely like the newer. We call the old stuff " Twang, Twang music " ! Guest guest
Mostly prefer 90's to current Country music. Do like some earlier like Roseanne Cash and Dan Seals. Getting so sick of hearing Underwood songs on the radio. Debbie J > >

My brother reported hearing a " hillbilly gospel song " on the radio in the late 1950's. The words were unforgettable: " Some people smoke and chew, Of cigars they have a few, And they want for me the same to do. But this is my reply, As them I do pass by, I don't want to " . Almost beats " I'm so lonesome since my dog died " , doesn't it? ;D ;D Z
Guest guest
I find this especially amusing, as my maternal grandfather was a Methodist minister, and he was REALLY down on smoking, yet he chewed tobacco!! His parishes were always in small Georgia towns, and I remember him taking me to the tobacco barns (no, nothing like the Pottery Barn...LOL!) when I was very small. I even amazingly remember all the details though I can barely remember what happened yesterday.
