Guest guest
I was on gabapentin for a year also but it never helped my muscle spasms. A week ago my rheum switched me to Lyrica, too. Take 75mg twice a week. Have had fibro over 16 years and have been getting progressively worse. But not as severe pain yet as many of you have. Sorry for the loss of your loving pet. I am sure he was very special to you both. Guest guest
Charity, from my personal experience... yes it gets worse with time. I had symptoms in my 20's and brushed them off. I am now 43. The years made it worse and worse as time went by. Since the major flare I had 4 years ago right before my dianosis was made, I have never ever been the same. Fibro moved into my life and stayed. I don't want to sound disappointing, but that is what I am hearing from most of the people I have talked to that have this thing. Please keep in mind, there are cases that get better. Just not many of them. Also realize that their are medications for most of us that can help some. I have heard lots of good things about Lyrica. hugs, Debra V. Guest guest
Loved your eulogy!! It sounds to me as if you are going through a heavy flare right now. We all have them, and usually just have to 'tough them out'. Nothing seems to work, re medicines, when we have them. Once the flare subsides then the meds once again begin to work. I don't know WHY this happens, it just does. No doctor can explain it either. It's just a sad fact of fibro life. The good news is that they don't last forever. There's really no predicting how long they will last though. Usually mine lasted between a week and ten days, however my last one lasted over six weeks, and I was about to give up hope. I thought I must have just entered a new phase of the 'disorder'..punky word!! But, finally I did come out of it. Of course, it DOES seem to get a bit worse each year. A lot of doctors say it's not a 'progressive' disease, but then these doctors have never had it, either. Most of us here do agree that it IS progressive. Only it usually happens little by little so you really don't notice until you think back a few years and remember you didn't have this or that back then. I still think that right now you are going through a flare. You really won't be able to judge how useful the Lyrica may be until your flare is over, so give it a good chance. Guest guest
thank you , it helps to hear that others see it too and thats really all it is. I started getting a little more mobile yesterday, and so far this morning I am a little better yet, so that helped ease my fears as well, I think the sun comeing out for a visit and warming my bones made a big difference...of course now I am hearing another storm is rolling in and dreading it, but I will enjoy the sun today!
