Guest guest
I know the name is confusing, but Miralax is not a stimulant laxative. It is more like a high- powered stool softener. That's why it can take three days to work.

That is the ONLY thing that has ever gotten me to go. Before I found that, I had to do enemas 3 times a week or i wouldnt go at all. I would love it if i could just take the MiraLax/ and or Amitiza to have BM. I worry what the long term effects of the stimulant are, but i went a year and a half of not using any stimulants and not going at all- - so I know the C wasnt a product of stimulant laxative abuse. :-( >
Guest guest
Wow, that's tough. I assume you've tried plain old Milk of Magnesia. That should not be illegal.

I have Celiac Disease...so the C is my biggest symptom, and what lead me to be diagnosed. I am HOPING that given a chance to heal that my BM will return to normal-- or even just improve. So that is why i have decided to start the SCD after beig Gf for 4 months-- I have been able to reduce my dose of the stimulant in half (which i guess is good progress) with the addition of Amitiza. I just hate to be working so hard at this diet only to take an illegal medication-- i might as well eat a chocolate chip!

This isn't my area of personal expertise - but just from observing the list over the last year and a half, there was one person who had severe C who was really benefitted by beginning to eat nuts/muffins. That seemed to do the trick for her in terms of getting her back on track and keeping her regular. Now responses are individual and it is possible it would have the reverse effect on someone else, so keep that mind and if you decide to try it, be cautious. BTW, what is your name? Regards, Mara

Thanks for letting me know about the nut muffins. I really wasnt sure what to do about that, cause i didnt think i was ready to introduce something like that yet, and was frustrated that Elaine didnt really specify which muffins in her " constipation protcol " . I think i will go back to my medecine, get regular for a few days and feel cleared out, then try to start the nut muffins and see if it helps. I appreciate your help!>
Guest guest
Nut flour goodies cause C for me too. Nothing gives me relief for any extended periods of time. One day magnesium will work, then the next week while taking it, I won't even go but feel like I really need to. Prunes will work every once in a while. I haven't tried the beet muffins with no nuts, but I think I might. > This isn't my area of personal expertise - but just from observing > the list over the last year and a half, there was one person who > had severe C who was really benefitted by beginning to eat > nuts/muffins. Guest guest
> > Nut flour goodies cause C for me too. When I realized that nut flour " binds " me up, I added more fruits and veggies to my day, but also watch the amount that I ingest. If I have eggs for breakfast, I'll have an scd sandwich for lunch, but won't have the pancakes for breakfast and then a sandwich for lunch. This way, if I feel I need a " bread " snack later during the day, I won't fear the C as much. Don't forget to drink lots of water to help loosen things up.
